At first Shu searched me with his eyes in a concerned manner, his eyes lighting up, but then he trailed my arm to my hand which was locked with Subaru's, and he changed to a hurt expression, mixed with one of... anger.

"Subaru?" I demanded an explanation from the silver haired Sakamaki, letting go of his hand.

"I believe you have some talking to do..." Subaru mentioned casually as if he were not in the middle of an extremely tense situation. "I will be taking these flowers to your carriage so that you do not have to carry them yourself." He turned to Shu then, with threatening slitted eyes and said "take care of her."

"Subaru do not even dare to-" I began, only to realize I was already talking to nothing but thin air.

"Do not get angry at him, we convinced him. It was our plan," said Shu, getting closer at me.

"We?" I asked him, stepping backwards as I did not want him near me. I then walked into a larger body, my back colliding with a chest.

"Yes, we," Said a familiar voice. Turning around I realized it was Edgar I had collided with. A smile instantly spread upon my lips, a reflex from the old times which I quickly supressed.

"Edgar," I whispered. "Wait a moment... What are you doing here? This is the demon realm!! If you get caught here you might be killed!!" I exclaimed, and grabbed his arm to start pulling him towards the portal, which was very far off. "Shu, how could you be so reckless?" I demanded.

"You know how insistent he can get," he sighted.

"Yes but so much as to agree to put his life in danger like this?"

Edgar pulled with his arm, spinning me around and making me face them both.

"I can be very insistent," Edgar smiled at me.

I could not help the smirk that appeared on my face, but when Edgar returned an even greater smile, mine disappeared, remembering how angry I was at them both.

"What do you want, Shu? Edgar?" I asked, putting in a cold demeanor, letting go of Edgar's arm.

"We only wanted to talk," said Edgar, holding his hands up in a defensive gesture.

"We wanted to explain," said Shu. Both boys were now at the same distance a few metres from me.

"I do not think there is any explaining to do," I said, getting angry once more at the memory of that night, unconsciously touching the rose I had collected which was secure in my hair.

"Please," Shu says, and Edgar seems surprised as he would have never thought Shu, with his proud attitude, would ever beg to someone.

"I..." I hesitate in my answer. I look at both of their hopeful faces. Sighting I say, "you have a few minutes."

Their eyes brighten up, and Edgar takes the lead.

"After the whole incident that night, I went straight home to think. I regretted instantly leaving you there on the ground, but I thought it best since you probably did not want to see me," he began.

"Wait," I interrupt. "You regretted it? You wanted to come back? Did you not see me shining red and having roses grow around my feet?"

"Ayame," Edgar said most sincerely. "I do not care whatever you might be, I know who you are. Of course I wanted to return to you and comfort you."

"We both did," Shu interjected with a light smile.

"Either way," Edgar continued, "I did not return, and once home I thought about all of the things you had told me, about how you had lied by not telling me all those monster tales were true. No offense Shu," he quickly said.
