The next dance after the restoration of friendships there was rain, which meant I could not leave for the human realm. That in itself meant not only that I would not be able to play with Edgar, but that the four of us who had made The Promise, would not be able to meet to plan a way out of becoming the Vampire King's bride.

Of course, as I arrived, I was greeted by Karl, who led me to the dance floor. As we danced, he talked to me about special abilities he knew vampires could posses. I wanted to ask if either of his sons had any of these, but decided against it as I did not wish for him to deepen the conversation.

"Have you found in yourself any more special abilities since that marvelous demonstration of power that time so many moths ago?" he asked me. Of course, he had been paving his way into this specific question.

"No," I lied, rather convincingly. "Not even those which you consider special abilities have manifested themselves again."

"I see," he smiled at me. "And you would most surely do tell me if any more did appear, am I correct, Ayame dear?"

"Of course," I lied once more. I would never let him know of any advantage I might have over him.

"Magnificent," Karl concluded as the song we were dancing to ended. "I must leave now, Ayame dear, to attend to some business. I do hope you have a safe ride home. Shall I escort you to your carriage?"

"I will not be leaving so early tonight, if you do not mind," I told him.

"Not at all, dear!" he replied in a most joyous manner. "I am most glad you seem to be coming around to your future. This will be your house after all, you must stay all you desire. Goodnight for now, Ayame," he said as he placed a kiss on the back of my hand, as he usually did. "I cannot nearly wait for your fifteenth birthday," he smiled in a quite sinister way and disappeared before my eyes.

I froze in place for a moment at his last words and the way he smiled. My hand subconsciously reached for the Yucca Flower, which rested at the left of the waist of my dress, a cream colour and white confection this time. Finding it, I relaxed instantly, remembering the promise of a future away from this life.

I left the dance floor and headed to a table filled with the fanciest food I had ever seen. I rarely ate at these parties, eating beforehand at home always. However this time I was craving for something sweet, and decided to humour myself with some of the assorted sweets that laid at the table.

I was perplexed as to which to choose, when Kanato appeared beside me.

"Ne Teddy, Ayame does not seem to know which chocolate to choose. Should we help her decide? We do know so very much about sweet things..."

"You should help her," I said smiling at Kanato and his bear.

"However why would we help if she would leave as soon as she finishes her sweets? She has not stayed for months."

"She will be staying tonight," I tried again.

"She will?" Kanato smiled brightly.

"She will," I affirmed.

Suddenly Kanato grabbed my arm with great strength.

"Leave this garbage then," he screamed almost, in a sudden fit of anger. "You must have better things!"

In an instant he smiled a strange smile at me, a wide grin with bright eyes crowned by perched eyebrows that resembled those of a confused expression. That, combined with the darker tones under his eyes that were so characteristic of him made him look rather... mad.

"I have better sweets in my room!" he exclaimed.

"In your roo-" I could not finish the question. We were already in another place of the house.
