Months had passed by since the 30th dance. I had grown accustomed to a new routine which consisted on spending my days inside the house, reading some of the many books that were available to me, and learning with tutors. I had taken up more lessons on piano and violin, focusing more on the latter and improving greatly. I had even begun composing my own music, which I was still not proud of, but it was getting better.

On Saturdays, I was allowed to go outside to the gardens, otherwise prohibited by the maids who made sure to keep me inside to learn on etiquette. The garden of the house I was living in was not wide, but it was still enjoyable enough. There were some tall bushes behind which I hid to practice that strange skill that had manifested itself on that terrible night. After some time, I figured it was emotion the one that drove the plants out of the ground and got them to do my will. I was not quite good at it, but I managed to get a few buds out into the surface of the ground. Never being able to recreate the intensity of my anger towards Shu and Edgar, I could not even make the flowers bloom. But each time it was easier to make something happen, sometimes not even needing to get too into it to make it take place. I was improving.

The rose I had picked on that dreadful night had never withered, and I wore it on my hair or my dress to every dance, reminding me not to trust again as blindly as I had.

I did not know what the power was, but I did notice that different flowers and plants could come out if I willed them to. I tried to make research on the topic, but found absolutely nothing about it in all of the vast literature I had visited. I thought it best to ask Reiji about it but... I was not speaking to him.

In fact, I was not talking to any of the Sakamakis. They did try to reach me, but I would not pay them any attention. I knew it was bad to do so, but it was their Father I was supposed to marry, I did not want to get too involved with them if that was to be my future. I had long ago given up on hope of escaping this path.

The Triplets did not seem to be banned from talking to me any longer. In one of the occasions he tried to talk to me, Laito had told me that his Father had overpowered their mother's prohibitions as I was to be respected as the next bride to be. They all got angry when I did not answer in any manner that was not polite and conclusive.

They could not try too much, however. I still had to go to the dances every month, of course, to dance with Karl Heinz, but as soon as he let me go I left the mansion and returned to my home. This left the siblings little time to try to interact with me, which was what I intended. Besides, I did not like attending at all now. Since the whole incident, Father attended the dances alone, and he did not allow me to see my Mom. I had no clue as of her wellbeing, and missed her terribly.

Regarding my former two best friends... I had not seen Edgar since he walked away to his village, not crossing to the human realm at all. I did not intend to do so either, and did not know if Shu had seen him since.

Shu was always at the parties now, watching me from a balcony, his eyes unreadable. He always had this bored expression upon him, as if he did not care wether I was present at all, wether anyone was present altogether. But he was always watching me, following with his gaze whichever way I went. He was the only one who had not tried to approach me, which I understood as a sign that he respected my wishes not to relate to him anymore.

The routine was always the same until one special night in which a thought crossed my mind as I was about to get on the carriage that would take me home.

"I will not be going home yet," I told the driver, who only nodded with respect in response.

Not wanting to cross again through the ballroom, I began to walk towards the left side of the mansion, bordering the outer walls while contemplating the magnificent structure. It was a fine work of art, full of carefully planned details that added to the grandness of the home. It took me quite a while, but finally, I was able to border the whole of the enormous house and get to the back gardens without being noticed.
