Already from the beginning, everything was different this time.

My dress, laid out for me, had none of the clear pale colours I was so used to; there was no trace of white. It was a black and blue dress, long to the floor and sleeveless. On the top, it framed my figure much too well in a black shade, cascading to the ground from where my waist began and going from black to electric blue. The back was completely open, as the straps of the dress tied directly in the back of my neck. I had never shown so much skin in my life. I felt completely exposed.

I remembered that time Shu saw my shoulder when he checked for bruising, and it had been such and intimate and passionate moment, however somewhat embarrassing. I did not want to show up in that dress, for everyone to see, but I knew that I had no choice. After all, that man had chosen the dress for me. I could not put up any resistance tonight or else he would not let me leave.

My hair was put up in a very elegant hairstyle, which highlighted my pale demeanor. After that, the maids at the house applied makeup on me, which I had never worn up to then. There was powder for my cheeks and eyes, red paste for my lips, and some other thing I did not care for. I was given black heels to walk on, which I had practiced walking with for the last month. After the maids were done with me, I could not recognize myself. I could only tell it was me because the violet flower necklace Shu had given me rested on my chest. Looking back at me in the mirror stood a woman, not a girl, very beautiful, and elegant, and sensual even. I looked very beautiful, but this was not me at all, not at the moment at least. I did not feel like dressing this way at all in front of everyone, I did not want anyone to see me like this. What would Shu think?

Upon arriving at the mansion I was received by some of the servants, who did not let me go through the main doors but led me to a side entrance telling me the Vampire King had requested for me to do so. I then was led to ascend a big case of stairs, and stood before two immense closed doors alone for a few minutes not knowing what was going on, worrying that whatever this was could ruin the plan.

From behind the doors I could hear music playing, and chatter, which were all silenced as a voice spoke. I recognized it as his voice.

"Esteemed guests, I present to you all, on her 15th birthday, my new bride," said the Vampire King.

In that instant the doors were opened, and I was staring at the whole of the room from the top of an enormous and very elegant looking staircase that led right into the dance floor and which I could have sworn was not there last month. Everyone in the room looked at me, gasping, and I was so self-conscious at that moment and taken by surprise that my cheeks glowed a bright red and I could not find it in myself to move.

I stood like that for what seemed like minutes to me, but were probably merely seconds. My eyes then scanned the room, searching for one person in particular as the redness of my cheeks receded. In my search, I found Ayato, looking angered and blushing at the same time; Subaru, completely awestruck; Kanato, with his now usual mad smile; Reiji, calm as ever, yet with a light trace of red playing on his cheeks; Laito, looking flustered and smiling weirdly; all of them looking at me. Finally, I found him, looking at me. Shu stood, as handsome as ever, on one of the sides of the room, his mouth agape, his face slightly red, his eyes wide. He took a step in my direction, I noticed, his eyes not leaving mine until he noticed the movement in the other side of the room. Suddenly filled with anger his gaze shifted to the man that confidently went up the stairs to reach me, his Father.

Looking now at the Vampire King, who was already in front of me, he offered me his hand.

"Ayame, dear, you look stunning. I have waited for this moment for much too long," he smiled at me, making me shiver.
