Alexander Borgia's Pov

Sitting beside my father, Mr. Patrick Borgia, at the conference table in the interview room, I was already worn out from the process. Most of the lawyers we interviewed didn’t meet our expectations; only a few stood out.

As the last lawyer was called in, I felt tempted to leave. I wasn't expecting anything different; it was the same repetitive process, and I anticipated the same types of answers.

I leaned over and whispered to my father that I wanted to go, but he insisted I wait for just one more interview. Reluctantly, I decided to stay, even though I had paperwork to finish and laws to research for a case our firm was handling.

When the final candidate entered the room, I was focused on writing reports about the previous lawyers, considering which ones might join our firm. I didn’t look up initially, but when my father asked the lawyer her name, I heard her response: “My name is Aurora Devin, sir.” Her voice was pleasant and captivating, drawing me in like magic.

I finally raised my head, and our eyes met. I had never seen such beauty before; I couldn't tear my gaze away. As she answered the interview questions, I was struck not only by her looks but also by her intelligence and professionalism. The other attorneys at the table seemed equally mesmerized, nodding in agreement and gazing at her with a mix of admiration and desire. A surge of jealousy and protectiveness washed over me as I noticed their interest. Why did I feel this way about someone I was just meeting for the first time?

When the interview concluded, I found myself wishing it could last longer. As she stood to leave, I admired her figure...she was truly stunning. An unfamiliar feeling stirred in my chest as she walked out; I couldn't quite identify it.

My father stood and addressed the room. “My son Alexander and I, along with other appointed attorneys, will review the reports from today’s interviews. We’ll make decisions regarding which lawyers to employ at our prestigious firm. I assure you that Alexander and I will personally oversee the selection process. Any questions or comments?”

“No, sir,” everyone replied.

“Very well. If there are no further comments, this interview session is concluded. You may return to your offices and continue your work on the murder case of John Mark. Please bring your findings tomorrow. We’ll review the case together with the litigation and criminal defense department, if necessary. The trial begins next Monday, and we must secure a victory,” my father stated clearly.

Once back in my office, I resumed my search for applicable laws and judicial authorities related to the John Mark case. As I scanned the interview reports, the memory of the beautiful lawyer returned to me, along with that strange feeling. What was this sensation? Could it be love?
