"Oh hello Nathan" Maria smiled as she opened the door.
"I wasn't expecting you, does Jason know you're coming over?"
"No, he doesn't" I said.
"I-is he home?"
"Oh no honey, he's at practice" she said and wrote down an address on a small sticky note.
"If you really want to see him than go here. It's on the other side of Emelo"
"Oh, uhm thanks" I smiled and took it.
"Have a nice day!"I drove down to the adress Maria gave me.
"Turn right at the next intersection" the gps woman said and I turned right. Why was this leading me to the woods on the edge of town? There was nothing here... Right?
"You've arrived at your destination"
I stopped the car and parked at the side of the road. Where was my destination? I got out of my car and pressed the key, locking it. Why would Maria send me here? I looked around and saw nothing but trees and bushes. Then, out of nowhere, a scream. Like a battle scream before attacking.
"Jason?!" I yelled and ran towards the sound without thinking. It didn't take long before I ran past targets painted on the trees. They were damaged, like someone had been using them. I lowered my pace, taking in my surroundings. It was like a damn obstacle course... I saw knifes sticking into some of the targets. Arrows as well, bullet holes... What was this place?
"J-Jason?!" I shouted again. No answer. I started walking further until I reached an open spot in the middle of the forest. There were dummies set op with targets painted on them and Jace was moving between them with a speed that made you question his humanity. He was fighting them, stabbing them with a small knife. Killing. No...
"J-Jace?" I whispered and took a step back. He hadn't noticed me but once his last opponent went down to the ground he dropped his weapon, facing me.
"W-what is all this?" I asked, scared of his answer. Scared of him, my own boyfriend.
"N-Nathan? How did you get here?" he asked with big eyes. It was only now I noticed he was shirtless. Oh man... Those muscles were so damn hot. No! Bad Nathan! This is serious! Don't look at his six pack!
"M-Maria s-send me... She s-said I-I would find you h-here" I said but my voice cracked. He noticed and bit his lip, looking at the dummies on the ground.
"You saw, didn't you?" he asked and I just nodded.
"I-I come here every now and then to blow of some steam... It's just... I don't want to hurt anyone Nathan, but I need to get rid of this frustration and this is the only way"
"Y-you want to kill Peter, don't you?" I asked as he walked up to me.
"Of course I do" he said like it was a casual thing.
"But I won't, cause it's wrong, I know that. I don't kill by choice Nate, I only kill when I have no other option"
He placed a hand on my cheek and smiled softly.
"M-my father, uhm, J-John...is going to jail for 2 years... And I cried in court, like a baby, so Peter was just the last drop you know?"
He sighed and let go of me, staring at the ground.
"I guess I could try to forgive him if you really want to..."
"He's only getting 2 years?!" I hissed, totally ignoring everything else.
"He could've killed you!"
"But he didn't" Jace shrugged.
"It's not even child abuse cause I'm already 18"
"That's so stupid!" I exclaimed.
"Rules are rules" he said.
"Even if it's hard and difficult and you just want to put an arrow through someone's throat, you can't. Cause those are the rules and they exist with a reason. And I really do hope he gets killed in jail or something"
"Argh! I can't believe it!" I shouted.
"Wanna blow off some of that anger?" he asked and pulled a knife from the tree beside us. He handed it to me and I frowned.
"Come on, you'll feel better, I promise"
Well, what did I have to lose? Jace pointed at a target not to far away and picked up a throwing star from a small box on the ground. What had he laying around here?!
"The goal is to hit the marker in the middle, like this" he said and threw the star straight in the middle of the tree. Wow... He was really good...
"Your turn"
I sighed and looked at the knife. The metal blade was thin and not heavy at all. The leather was detailed and it had initials carved into. J.A. Jason Anderson, probably. I looked at the target and back at my boyfriend.
"I-I don't think this is such a great idea..."
"Oh come on, what could happen?" he asked with a small grin on his face.
"We're all alone, nobody ever comes here... But we can also do, you know, other stuff to blow off steam~"
His arms snaked around my waist and he pressed our lower bodies together.
"If you get what I mean~"
I could feel my face heat up and tried to look away from his body. That six pack was so gorgeous... Irresistible... I blinked and pulled away from his embrace.
"L-lets just throw the knife o-okay?"
He rolled his eyes but smiled none the less. He knew I didn't feel comfortable making out in public places, even if there was no one else around. I pointed at the target and closed my eyes. Breath in, breath out... My eyes shot open and I threw. Bulls eye, straight next to Jason's throwing star. His eyes widened a little and his mouth opened but no sound came out.
"I hit it!" I cheered and jumped in joy.
"Beginners luck" he stated and walked over to the tree, pulling out his weapons.
"Whatever, I hit it!" I laughed as he started to pack up.
"Yeah, sure, you're a natural, is that what you wanna hear?" he muttered while pulling out some arrows from the trees. He put the weapons back in a large storage box that was partly buried in the ground at the edge of the open spot. The dummies stayed down and if you didn't knew they were there it was actually rather hard to see in the tall grass.
"I'm good to go" he said and covered the box with some dirt, sticks and leaves. So this is how no one has found this yet... He wiped of his hands on his pants and smiled at me.
"Where's your shirt?" I asked.
"Oh, uhm, I think it's still in the field. I'll go grab it real quick okay?" he said and ran back to the dummy place. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and saw Sim calling.
"Hey, whaddup?" I asked.
"Where are you?" he asked bluntly.
"Why'd you wanna know?" I asked.
"Uhm, I'm standing in front of your house right know but your car is missing" he said.
"I thought we were gonna get pizza today?"
"Oh! Right! I totally forgot! I-I'm with Jace right now because of the whole Peter situation you know" I said.
"Oh, right, yeah, you should probably not leave him alone right now" Sim sighed.
"Why don't you bring him with us? We can eat pizza together, talk about the party-"
The moment he said that he realised how wrong that was and corrected himself.
"No, no, we most definitely NOT talk about the party"
"Who's it?" Jace asked, now standing next to me, pulling on his shirt.
"Sim asks if we can join him for pizza" I said.
"I never say no to food" Jace grinned and I rolled my eyes.
"Meet us at the Italian in 10"
