dial tone

i thought i heard my phone buzz

but when i reached

lept

grabbed for it

the screen was dark.

it must have ben the wind

or my faulty brain

trying desperately to grasp for the past.

when i went to call you

my heart beat with the ringing

the dial tone was all i heard

no voices laughing on the other end.

i saw you out the other day

i went to say hello

But the screen went dark

the phone kept ringing

and i left you alone.
