I hope the day will not come
When I can pass you in the street
And keep walking
I hope that life will not push you away from me
Though I fear it's too late for that
I hope I will know what it is
To lie in your arms until morning
And not have an excuse to leave
I hope you will not break my heart
And that I will not break yours
I hope we will not have to choose between what we want
And what is right
I hope that our minds can stay fragile
And not have to harden against the cruelty of this place
I hope you will know me always
The way you know me now
More intimately than skin and lips
I hope that you will always be mine
I know that that is foolish
I know I don't care.
