Aria

I woke up to beautiful humming music making me frown as I look towards forwards Thaleia who was sitting cross legged in the boat holding our daughter making me scowl angrily.

"And where the hell have you been?!"

"I found my mother."

"What?"

"I found my mother deep within the sea, she was lost but now she is found. All four of us will be heading home soon."

"If you found your mother where is she?"

"She's swimming next to the boat."

Curious about Thaleia's mother I lean over the boat only to see a beautiful mermaid with long dirty blonde hair and deep blue eyes making me a bit surprised.

"You look nothing like Thaleia." I say in a surprised voice making her chuckle.

"Nice to meet you to, I'm Aquamarine."

"Oh, sorry. My name is Aria."

"It's a pleasure to meet you. Tell me, what's my granddaughters name?"

"Name?"

"Yes, what's her name?"

Crap. I have been so caught up with what's been going on I never thought of a name.

"How about Myra?"

"Myra? What's that mean?"

"Myra means sea, it was also my sisters name but she died long ago during the battle between our people and king trident."

"Oh, I'm sorry for your loss. Myra sounds perfect, does everyone in your family mean sea?"

"Not at all, my mates name is Jade."

"Like the stone?"

"Yes, much like Thaleia's eyes both of them are as green as the jade stone." "Isn't there something you would like to tell Aria before we make it home Thaleia?"

I frown as I look up towards Thaleia who didn't seem to pleased with what her mother said.

"Thaleia? What is it?"

"I have to travel to Atlantis after I get you settled into your new home."

"What? Why?"

Thaleia sighed heavily before she showed me her arm making me frown as I watch her laughter green skin turn into a slightly tanned color stoping just at the edge of her elbow making me frown.

"I'm turning into a mermaid."

"Is that a bad thing? Not that I don't like your siren side but.."

"It's ok Aria. But for me it's a terrible thing, I like my siren side and if I turn into a mermaid then how will I be able to protect you from the predators within the sea?"

"You could always use your powers."

"You don't get it Aria, I only have my powers because of my siren side, I won't have them anymore when I'm just a plain mermaid."

"So what? Your just going to leave me on an unknown island with our daughter I know nothing about?"

"My mother can help you, won't you mother?"

"It depends."

"On?"

"Thaleia, your mother and I haven't mated for over 100 years. Do you really think she will let me leave our cave once she sees me?"

"I haven't thought of that..."

"What about your sister Aqua? She could help take care of Aria while your gone."

"No! I will not have Aqua watch my mate nor my child!

"You have a sister?"

"Yes. She tried to kill me when we where just a few days before I came searching for you two. She was jealous that mom chose me to rule the East Sea and not her."

"I'm sorry to here that."

"Don't be. Aqua wants what I have, if she even knows about you there's no telling what she will do."

"Now I'm sure Aqua isn't that bad Thaleia. Yes I get the whole jealousy thing, but do you really think she would harm your family?"

"Yes, I do. You have been missing for along time mother, you don't know what she's capable of."

"So there's no convening you to not go to Atlantis then?"

"No, me becoming a mermaid isn't the only reason why I want to visit Atlantis."

"It's not?"

"No. I want to ask King Trident for a potion that will turn you into one of us, I think you will be a lot happier in the sea wants you realize how beautiful it is."

I was surprised, Thaleia wants me to become like her. Or more like her mom but still, I didn't know you could change people into mermaids? I mean yeah, I heard of mermaids turning into humans but never the other way around.

"Is that even possible?"

"With king Trident anything's possible, the only problem is that both our kingdoms have been at war since the beginning of time."

"I see. So you'll be in danger when you go there?"

"It's nothing you need to concern yourself with Aria, all you have to worry about is taking care of our daughter and my sister. I should be back within 5 days time."

"And if your not?"

She grabbed my hand as tears threatened to spill my eyes.

"Quit thinking about the worst possibilities, I am the future ruler of our people, I have killed many creatures and humans. I'm pretty sure I can handle King Trident."

"I love you Aria, and I will never let you go."

I smile weakly as Thaleia presses her lips up against my own making my heart melt in my chest.
