3rd Person's POV
A month later
(Y/n) has been training with the other turtles for weeks now, learning something new every day, and she was getting pretty good. Even though she had already been taught these skills and more, she allowed the turtles to teach to their hearts consent. Which seemed to take their minds off, other things...
Today she was in the kitchen preparing a surprise dinner for the turtles to thank them for everything they had offered her. They even let her stay with them even though they had decided to split once they arrived at the farm earlier.
As she diced the onions she had picked from the hidden garden behind the farm house just this morning, she thought of New York, her family, everyone she ever knew. With no one else in the house her thoughts were free to roam anywhere and everywhere, and yet they decide to wander.... there. Soon, the tears that rolled down her cheeks seemed fuller than those caused by the juices from the onion, but from the awful, horrid memories of her beloved ones.....
Including her mother.
She scrapes the onions into the pan and they land with a sharp hiss as the heat intertwines with the dangerous juices and pops onto her skin painfully. (Y/n) grabs some garlic and throws it in the pan, too, and begins sautéing the vegetables. She was planning to make her mother's famous dish, ton shells. Named after her parent's friend in college, Tony, who helped them escape someone her father doesn't mention.
As (y/n)'s eyes were fixed on the food, a stranger crept up from behind her, silently grunting in pain with each step.
"Who are you?" Leo growls, leaning on a wooden chair he had dragged from the table across the room. (Y/n) smiles and wipes her tears away, thinking it was one of the other turtles.
"Oh hey, I didn't hear you come in-" she begins to turn around.
"No don't turn around!" Leo screams as fear grips his stomach, he can't handle a freaked out teenager in this state. (Y/n) chuckles, deciding it was Mickey who had snuck up on her.
"Alright, mickey, what's up?"
"M-Mickey? You know him?" Leo stampers, feeling his head begin to spin madly. Who is this girl? How does she know Mickey? Who does she think she is?
(Y/n) begins to laugh uncontrollably and she stumbles over to her pan that is still sitting on the oven to stir the contents. Curious, she looks at the glass in the microwave to see what Mickey was planning, but instead saw a BLUE bandana. She racks her brain to try to remember seeing a blue bandana on any of the turtles but couldn't remember anything of the sorts.
She began to wonder if Mickey was trying to trick her with a new bandana, but this turtles body structure was... different. He was strongly built, but slim. His head was more circular compared to the others. Some would say he was.......... more attractive?
'WHAT?! Get it together, (y/n)! He is a mutant turtle. And you don't even know if he is good! He could be an enemy!' (Y/n) mentally screamed, trying not to look tense as to not alert the intruder.
'She is obviously tensing up, she saw me.' Leo thought.
"Uh-um yea of coarse I do. Do you think you can go get the others, Mickey? They are just outside in the front. Dinner is just about ready." Dinner was no where near ready, and the others where about ten miles down the road getting bread and cheese for dinner. (Y/n) just needed to get this new turtle as far away from her as possible.
"What are you making?" Leo questioned, he knew his brothers only ate a specific diet containing of mostly pizza.
"Ton shells, it's a type of pasta." (Y/n) gulped. He was on to her, and she knew it. She could hear him drawing closer towards her direction, making her body go into fight or flight mode. Taking a deep breath, she quickly reached for her cutting knife and whipped her head around, her hair flying in front of her enemy dramatically.
Leo almost jumped out his skin when the girls fingers seemed to glow as she whipped around, smacking his face with her light brown hair like a wave of sand. Thinking fast, he grabbed both her arms, detaining the weapon in her right hand.
Now they where face-to-face. Leo scanned the girls' looks, she didn't seem so surprised to see a mutant turtle standing in front of her, but more scared of the fighting situation itself. She had dark purple bags underneath her light, blue eyes. She had freckles basically all over her face, mainly across her nose and rosy cheeks. She seemed in her early teens, but strong for such a young girl.
"Who are you?" (Y/n) growled, keeping her voice low and level.
"My name is Leonardo, where is my family?" Leo matched her tone. The girls eyes widened, cracking her stone cold wall.
"Y-you are Leo?" (Y/n)'s head rushed, so this was him? The fearless, strong leader she had heard so much and so little about. Leo slowly nodded, releasing her wrists from his tight grip, grabbing the chair he was recently using and plopping down. Releasing a sigh of relief.
(Y/n) slowly walked backwards towards the oven, the timer blaring, signaling her ton shells are done baking, but she couldn't bring herself to take her eyes off the fallen leader. His shell was still cracked but a bit better, he was bruised and had bandages over his stomach, but otherwise better looking than before.
"Th-the others are down the road getting groceries..." (y/n) whispered, reaching into the oven to bring out the glass baking dish filled with her prepared dinner.
"I don't know if the others will eat this," Leo peered over her shoulder at the noodles stuffed with whatever she had prepared slathered with red sauce and melted cheese. (Y/n) looked up worryingly.
"Why not?"
"Well, we only eat a strict diet of pizza..." Leo suddenly became aware of how hungry he was. (Y/n) laughed,
"Yea and whatever snacks we have in the pantry. They basically emptied all the food in the house within the first week. I'm sure this would be ok, it has pizza sauce and cheese on it." She reassured Leo.
"WE'RE BACK!!!" Mickey yells from the living room, scaring (y/n), making her jump and burn her hand.
"Ow!" (Y/n) bit her lip as she rushed over to the sink and ran cold water over her already red skin.
"Smells delicious!" Raph enters the kitchen, his head held high as he sniffs the air, not quite noticing his brother sitting on the opposite side of the room yet.
"What are you making? It smells terrific-!" Raph catches Leo's eye and holds it for a couple seconds, trying to decide if he was real or not. After rubbing his eyes and taking a second look, he discovered it was indeed true, his brother was finally awake.
"GUYS GET IN HERE NOW!" Raph yelled already by Leo's side. The others entered the kitchen quickly, including April and Casey, and all embraced Leo in a group hug. Tears running down almost every face. Everything was perfect..... all except for (y/n), who sat behind the open stove pouring warm air into the once cool kitchen, lost in her own thoughts...
Any tips or ideas anyone would like to give I am all ears. I know my book sucks but I am trying to improve hopefully. Hope y'all are doing well. Thanks for reading! Next chapter in progress...
