17. Amy

When I got home it was late. The sun had set and when I walked through the door dinner was already on the table. I sat down with my grandparents and ate with them. We talked and they both wished that I'd had a good day. Then after dinner I went to my room and took out my phone.

A- come on just pick up ur damn phone
A- oh and happy birthday. Now pick up the damn phone!

S-Hello
S- Amy u alive
S- Amy!
S- u ok?
S- Amy whats going on
S- why cant anyone get u to pick up the damn phone
S- its urgent
S- Chris told us what happened
S- but now u got another problem
S- come on Amy just pick up the phone
S- please
S- its not even that hard u just pick it up and turn it on.
S- look I cant wait anymore
S- I'm just gonna tell u
S- Chris is in the hospital

WAIT WHAT! No that cant be right. It cant be. He's got to be ok. He has to be. I tried calling his phone but he didn't answer. I tried again and again until I couldn't hold back the tears anymore. I grabbed my keys and started running. I had to get to the hospital. He couldn't be there he just couldn't. It was dark and the night air was cold on my bare skin but I didn't care I just had to keep running. The nearest hospital was about 7 miles but I didn't care. I just had to get there. I took as many shortcuts as I could, even one thought the forest which now that I think about was actually very stupid. The branches had scratched my arms pretty badly but I didn't care I had to keep going.

By the time I got to the hospital it had been just under 2 hours. Guess I wasn't very fast but oh well at least I was here. I felt as if I was gonna pass out when I finally found Sarah and Abbie.
" What the hell happened! You look like you git mugged and then decided to go for a hike on the woods." Abbie said. I was breathing too heavily to answer them and they just both laughed.
" Do you have any Idea how far 7 miles is!" I gasped.
" Yeah, 7 miles." Sarah said making Abbie laugh.
" Yeah. It... its really far." I said.
" Well no... what gave it away." Abbie said sarcastically.
" Moving on I guess you got our texts." I went silent.
" You okay?" Sarah asked.
" I'm not the one you should be asking." I walked to the window and saw Chris lying in the hospital bed fast asleep. " I never should have made him leave."
" Its not your fault Amy." Tears started to roll down my face.
" Then why is it never me in the hospital bed? Its always him. It shouldn't be him. It should be me." Sarah put her hand on my shoulder and they both stood by my side.
" Amy, this isn't your fault. Chris is ill, okay. Its not your fault." Abbie said.
" Come on." Sarah and Abbie then took me into the room that Chris was in.

We ended up talking for hours. I hadn't really talked my unless I was asked a question, but even then my words were kept very limited. I'd occasionally look over at Chris who was still fast asleep but I couldn't stop worrying about him. My mind kept coming up with possible reasons as to why he was here but I knew none of them would be right. But I still count Hello but feel slightly responsible.

Then after an hour or 2 we all ended up falling asleep in the hospital chairs in Chris's room.
