Twelve years without the gift of sight can be rather lonely. I suppose that's okay though, I don't believe I could go on anymore with out at least some unseeing. Do you know how they say that when someone loses one of their senses, the other come back tenfold? I can firsthand provide you that that is indeed a true statement. My hearing is excellent, my sense of smell is amazing, taste is enhanced, and touch is unbelievable. Thanks to this I can live normally with almost no disability to sighted people.
I walked about the town I had come across, feeling my way through the new area with a metal staff. I stopped dead in my tracks. I could feel it here, wherever it was. An akuma. It was hiding in a crowd though, making it more difficult to track.
"Hello miss. Do you need some help getting around?" someone said behind me, a male's voice, taller than me, weak build. I smirked.
Found you.
I gripped my staff tightly, and swung suddenly for the akuma behind me. He narrowly dodged. I made way to swing again, turning around to face the akuma, but a force from behind gripped my staff with both hands, pressing it to my neck and cutting off my airway. I struggled to breathe and suddenly I began to panic, trying unsuccessfully to pull my staff away from my neck.
Human. They're human.
Whoever it was holding me here, they were human, not akuma, that much I knew.
"Please," I rasped, begging for air.
"Shh, sleep child," the voice soothed as I drifted off into darkness.
When I woke up again, I was lying on cobblestone pavement, my staff was in my hands, placed on my chest. I groaned, looking at the starry night sky. A ping of shock hit me. I blinked. Once. Twice.
I can..see.
I stood up, excited to start seeing things like I had once long ago. Then, as I was standing up, a piece of paper that was lying on my chest that I hadn't noticed fell to the ground swiftly.
"Hm?" I picked it up.
Report to the Black Order. Directions will come to you shortly. Do not worry. Your cousins Komui and Lenalee will be there.
I stared at the last sentence in surprise. When had I last heard of, or seen, my cousins Komui and Lenalee? Too long, surely. And what did this note mean by directions? Or the Black Order for that matter?
<~~~~>
This is obviously a new story, and I'm going to post four chapters at a time each update, just in advance. I also don't have any specific schedule. Finally, I've been awake for like 1943937 hours working on this story, and I'm tired, so I do hope you enjoy this story.
Fare the well,
~Live
