Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale.
With the help of Lavi, Kanda had brought back both Naomi and Hei from the mountains. Naomi was admitted into the infirmary, suffering from head wounds, frostbite, and severe hypothermia. Hei didn't fare as well, and was currently being dealt with in his death. Allen had wanted to be there when Naomi woke up, but Komui had an important assignment for him.
Kanda on the other hand, had not left since Naomi was admitted. He knew it had only been a day, but he was bothered by the amount of time it was taking for her to wake. Finally though, the rhythmic pattern of her breathing changed when she awoke. The awake itself wasn't quite majestic or anything such, but seeing her dark-colored eyes open again was relieving.
She blinked a few times, sitting up and adjusting to her surroundings. "Kanda..?" she said, an eyebrow raising. Kanda looked at her, and it occurred to him he had too much to say and not enough time. So instead, he went straight to the point.
"What happened out there? In the mountains."

"Shounen," Tyki grinned, his hands in his pockets as he approached Allen Walker. "You wouldn't happen to know a Naomi Kurosu, would you?"
Allen Walker turned around harshly. "And what would that mean to you, Tyki Mikk?" His deformed red arm shifted to a claw.
"It just gives me permission to kill you," he smiled, narrowing his eyes.

"Hey again," Naomi said lamely, getting down on one knee in the grass, facing a tombstone. "You know, the only reason Komui let you be buried outside here instead of being cremated like everyone else was because one, I asked, and also because you didn't really have any family except a sister who died a few years back." She took a shaky breath.
"You know," she said, "the one thing I think about all the time now was how much you ate." Naomi laughed. "You were just like Allen. If there was a competition, which one of you would have won, Hei?"
"I'm sorry," she sighed, looking at the ground. "I cost you your life," she punched the ground with her fist, tears falling out of her eyes once more. "I know I've said it a lot too. And you're thinking, if you had only been less reckless, I'd be alive." Naomi's voice went to a low whisper now, so no one except her and possibly the spirit of Hei could hear her speak. "I have to leave the Order today. I'm surprised no one else has died because of Tyki's deal yet, but also relieved. But I have to leave, because I can't have more deaths on my shoulders." She stood up to her feet again, nodding at the grave of Hei.
"I'll visit you before I go though," Naomi promised. "I owe you that much."
With that, she walked back inside, and back into the room in the infirmary she was required to stay in. 'Not like I'll be here much longer though,' Naomi thought. She laid back down on the bed, staring at the ceiling absentmindedly, that is, until the door was opened. Naomi looked at who it was, finding it to be Komui.
Naomi sat up when she saw the grim expression on his face. "What is it?" she asked.
Komui looked at her, like what he was going to say was going to be difficult. "A-Allen Walker, is d- is dead."
Naomi blinked a few times, not really believing what she just heard, but then like a bus, it hit her hard. She covered her mouth with her hand, trying to muffle the inescapable cries coming out of her mouth. Komui walked over to her, and embraced her like a big brother might.
Naomi clung to his uniform tightly, crying out fully now. It's my fault, she thought. If I had only left sooner, or never came back at all. Naomi didn't voice this aloud though, afraid that her older cousin would shove her away, point at her, and declare her a traitor. She held to Komui tightly, and just cried for Allen Walker.

Dusk
Naomi hadn't left her room since she had gotten the news of Allen's death, and she had refused anything to eat. No one was exactly sure what could be going on in her head, but it surely couldn't have been good. The window to her room was open, letting the rain on the other side occasionally breeze against her face that would drop a few tears every so and now.
A knock on the door prompted Naomi to turn around to face Kanda. He shut the door lightly, taking a seat at the edge of her bed. "So," he began, staring at his hands. "How are you doing with...with the bea- with Allen, and...you know..?"
A clap of thunder rang after a flash of lightening. "How am I supposed to feel?" she whispered. "He was like a little brother to me. He's gone, and Hei's gone, and I feel like this is all my fault. Everyone around me is quickly dying." Naomi's gaze was locked to the ground, and a few more tears fell to the floor. "You need to leave Kanda, or you'll get hurt too. Everyone, everyone around me needs to leave. Before I get them all killed."
Kanda snapped his head up to look at her. "I'm not leaving." He got up, making his way to Naomi, and pulling her chin up to look at him. "Naomi," he said, his cheeks dusting a light pink as he realized how he really felt about her. "I...I love you," he finally said, the words coming off his lips in the most foreign way.
Not waiting to see how Naomi would react, he pulled her in for a kiss, trying to put all his emotions he couldn't ever say into it. The kiss was truly indescribable other than the fact it was a kiss. When the kiss had finally broken apart, Naomi was at a loss for words.
"Don't do anything stupid," Kanda said, looking her in the eyes. "Do you understand?"
"Y-yes," Naomi stuttered.
Kanda smiled that rare smile, and walked to the door, opening it. "Sleep well," he said before leaving and shutting the door lightly behind him.

"She's gone," Kanda said, bewildered. He had only left the night before and today she was gone, the only traces of her being there was an open window.
It isn't right, he thought, just hours ago she was here, but now it's like she never existed. He looked out the window, hoping maybe she was there. All he saw though were a few muddy footprints that disappeared after crossing Hei's grave.
"Komui!" Kanda yelled barging into his office. "Naomi, I think she's run away from the Order."
Komui stood up suddenly. "What?" They both rushed over to Naomi's room again, and just like before, it was empty.
That idiot, Kanda thought.

Two days. Naomi had been staying in this abandoned home for about two days. The isolation wasn't good for her, especially with the tragedies that had gone on lately, and on the third night, she broke. A searing pain devastated her , and blood dripped from her forehead. A part of her had an idea what was going on, but most of her was in too much agonizing pain to really understand.
"It hurts, it hurts, it hurts," Naomi screamed out to nothing. Finally, the pain became too much, and she passed out.
The next day, a chubby older man and a thinner, younger one approached her. The chubbier one, otherwise known as the Millennium Earl held out his hand. "Come child," he grinned. "We're just like you." Tyki, the other individual there, looked at Naomi, not sure how to feel about her taking his brother's place.
She looked at the both of them, fear dancing in her eyes.
"Who are you? Where am I? Who...who am I?"
