"Why did you stab me Matt?" I asked.

He grinned, he was only a few centimeters from me, clad in a grey suit with a purple tie, and a black fedora atop his head.

"First of all, I wanted to see if you'd have the courage to live from the bleed out," he leaned in close as if to kiss me, but then turned his head to the side. "Second of all, the poison on that blade isn't to kill, it's for your dreams." He laughed maniacally, disappearing into a swirl of darkness.

The scene changed from the blackness to one back in my time of blindness, only this time I could see what was happening. Akuma mowed down villagers one by one, destroying the town, Matt lead them, snapping his fingers to a non-existent tune.

"Stop stop!" I ran up to Matt, trying to stop him, but he only passed through me, as if I didn't exist. I closed my eyes, swinging for the akuma, but once again, my staff only passed through them. I opened my eyes, watching the city's inhabitants get killed.

I bent over, tears coming out of my eyes, covering my ears with my hands, but the sounds never stopped.

I shot awake, getting up too quickly. I gasped in pain, clutching my side, falling back onto the pillow again. I looked at Kanda, finding dark eyes boring into my own.

"You should be more careful when you get up," he commented. I took slow, even breaths to calm down. "What was it about?" he asked suddenly.

"Huh?" I turned to him again.

"The nightmare," he replied, getting slightly irritated.

"We have to get this poison out," I informed, ignoring his question.

"Why? Does this have something to do with the nightmare?"

I sighed, there wasn't really any getting out of telling him.

"Back when I was blind, fifteen years old or so, I had settled for a while in a town with no name. There was a boy named Matt there."

I was walking along, using my staff for guidance every now and then, until I bumped into the back of a man, he was, even at the time, a head taller than me.

"My apologies," I murmured.

"No, it's okay. Honestly," he replied. "Are you alright?"

I nodded. "Mhm."

"Please, let me take you out for lunch, it's the least I could do for such a lovely lady," he requested politely.

I smiled a little. It was the first time someone had showed me such kindness since Michael's death. Later I had learned that the name of the man I met was Matthew Tate.

We hung out nearly every day, despite my being blind, and soon enough we were going out, two young lovers running around the streets of a town with no name.

Then one day, he left without warning, a few months had gone by, and I had entered a depression, thinking that Matt had died.

Until upon a sunny day, he showed up once again, in the dream dressed in a coat of purple and grey, with exactly seven circles on the right side of it, one in the middle, and six intercepting it and the ones surrounding it.

He snapped his fingers, and the presence of akumas was felt, too many for myself to take on, and I ran to Matthew as a last resort.

"Matt please call them off!" I cried, clinging to him. He shoved me off.
