Recap:

"You think I never cared?" Matt whispered, walking closer to me. He rested his forehead on my shoulder. "Naomi. I love you."

I awoke, taking deep breaths to calm down. I put a hand to my forehead. "...oh gosh.." I recalled the event.

"I...what?" I was clearly appalled with Matt's words.

"I know it's hard to believe, but it's just my nature to be so evil sometimes, I'm a Noah. I try to control it Naomi, I do, but it's so hard," he sobbed, pulling me into a hug. "I'm so sorry."

"Matt I-" before I could finish the scene faded.

I held my head in my hands, my thoughts a jumbled mess. "What am I going to do?" I whispered to myself. For four days after that dream I stayed in my room, not sleeping, not eating, not speaking, moving every now and then, my head full of thought.

Now what?

The fifth day there was a loud pounding on my door, jerking me up from my lying down position on my bed. The pounding came again, louder, followed by the familiar angry voice of Kanda.

"Naomi! Open up the damn door!" he hollered.

Oh, he used my name. That's a first.

I swung my feet over the bed, getting down. I walked over to the door slowly, the thin white sheet on my bed draped over my shoulders.

I probably look like a mess.

I opened the door, flinching at the sudden burst of light.

"What the hell happened to you?" Kanda bluntly asked, taking in my haggard appearance. He walked in, closing the door lightly behind him. "It's fucking dark in here, what the hell?" Kanda walked over to the only window in my room, moving the drapes out of the way. I closed my eyes briefly from the blindness the light caused. "Well? Are you going to say anything? Going to explain why the entire Black Order is talking about you being holed up in your room?"

I shook my head, walking over to him and wrapping my arms around his abdomen. A traitor tear escaped my eyes, soaking into Kanda's uniform. He pulled me out of the embrace at arm's distance, grasping my shoulders.

"What's wrong with you?" he whispered, confused.

I hung my head. "Its a long story." I sat on the edge of my bed. "What day is it?"

"December the 7th."

I shot my head back up, looking at Kanda's confused eyes with my frantic ones. "You're serious?"

"I don't tell jokes," he snorted. "Why?" I stood up quickly, the blanket falling onto the bed. I grabbed my staff, cautiously siting back down. Kanda sat down by me. "What's going on?" I ignored him. He grabbed my shoulder, digging his fingers into it.

"Ow ow. Okay, damn it, stop it Kanda!" I sighed. "You remember Matthew Tate? The Noah we encountered back in Joark?"

He tensed. "Go on."

"He announced to me many times that on December the 7th he was going to kidnap me for some sort of Noah dinner or gathering."

Kanda's eyes widened. "How come you didn't tell me this sooner?! It's only a matter of time before he finds you," Kanda hissed.

"I didn't want to tell anyone about it," I whispered.

"He'll kidnap you Naomi!" Kanda's voice raised.

"I didn't tell anyone because he told me he'd kill anyone who got in the way! I only told Allen because I knew he'd understand!" I yelled, getting to my feet.
