Auston's POV:
"Auston get up. You have to get ready." My mom yelled to me through my hotel door.
I groaned and turned over in bed to look through my phone notifications. I saw I had a text from an unknown number.
Unknown-
You really piss me off you know that. Because of you, Brynn is second guessing her wedding!I stared at the message confused and checked the time it was sent. 8:42 at night yesterday. Yesterday was Brynn's rehearsal dinner. I jumped up out of bed and ran to my sisters room that they were sharing. I pounded on the door Breyana opened it already dressed and ready for the day.
"The rehearsal dinner last night." I started. "How was Brynn?"
Breyana looked at me confused. "What do you mean?"
Alex pushed past the both of us to get into the hotel room. "Jeez Auston just come in you're letting all the air conditioning out."
I rolled my eyes and stepped inside taking a seat on one of the beds. "You guys are part of the bridal court in Brynn's wedding. You guys had to go to the rehearsal dinner. How was Brynn?"
Alex looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "Why do you care?"
I threw my phone at her and watched her and Breyana read the message. Breyana stood up and looked at me confused for a moment.
"Now that you mention it, she did seem a little out of it at dinner. Almost like her head was there but her heart wasn't." Breyana said quietly.
Alex handed me my phone and pulled me down onto the bed. "Breyana's right. Alec and Jess had to grab her attention a couple of times throughout the dinner. We only ate for an hour and a half and she was spaced out for most of it."
I looked down at my hands then shot up from the bed. Alex and Breyana called after me as I ran down the hall towards the exit of the hotel. I hailed a cab and drove to the Victorian suite Brynn was staying at until the wedding. I jumped out of the cab throwing the driver a couple of bills before the door pushed open and out walked her mother. I stopped dead in my tracks when our eyes met.
"Where's Brynn?" I asked.
"What are you doing here? Visits are allowed to bridal and groom court and families of bride and groom only until the wedding." She said spitefully.
I scoffed. "I need to talk to your daughter."
I went to step forward and passed her but she laid a hand on my chest pushing me back with a lot more force than I expected causing me to stumble.
"You will not talk to her. I am not going to let you ruin this for her. For me. For her family. This is a big moment for her. I will be damned if she throws it all away for some schoolgirl crush." Her mom told me.
I stood shocked. I regained my composure and turned around to walk away before turning to face her mother again.
"You're daughter's not happy. And the sooner you realize that the sooner you can actually focus on what she wants. This is her life. She's 24 she can maker her own decisions. But I'll leave. Not because you asked me to but because I know in my heart that when the time comes for her to walk down the isle she will be with me in my arms with Elle far away from here. Back in Toronto." I got up in her mother's face as I finished my statement. "And there is nothing you will be able to do about it."
Her mom looked at me as I turned and walked away. " Oh and one more thing," I said as I turned around once more. "Why don't you start acting more like a mother to your two kids and less like a dictator."
