Auston's POV:

I walked into ACC to get myself a good skate in and ran into the last person I thought I would.

"Auston Matthews!" I heard the voice say.

My eyes widened at the voice and I turned slowly. "Alec, what are you doing here?"

He smiled at me. "Exploring my options. No I'm just kidding. Taking a trip to myself. Need some time off. It's been a long summer."

I stood frozen in my spot. "Yeah it's been a really long summer huh."

His smile slowly disappeared. "How is she?"

I looked anywhere but at him as I spoke. "She's good Alec. Both her and Elle."

He nodded and took a step closer to me. "Why did you do that hm? Why?"

I stayed put and stood my ground. "I had to say what needed to be said. Did I know my words would cause her to call off the wedding? No! I wouldn't change a single thing I did that day."

He scoffed. "Yeah you can never do any wrong can you Matthews. Just know that you cheated on her. And that underlying feeling that you might be doing it again will always be there."

I shook my head. "No! I made that mistake once and it was by far the worst mistake of my life. I love Brynn more than anything. She's the love of my life. Hell, she's having my child. I wouldn't change what I have for anything. And I'll be damned if anyone tries to come between us again."

He looked at me and narrowed his eyes. "You just need to hope that your past doesn't come back to haunt not only you but Brynn as well. I'm not here to steal anyone from either if that's what you're thinking. Believe it or not, I'm not the type of guy who does stuff like that unlike some people."

He pushed past me towards the exit and got to the door before turning around. "If you get around to it, tell Brynn I said congratulations. And I will always be here for her. No matter what."

He left me standing in the hallway as he headed towards his car in the parking lot to leave ACC. I turned myself around and continued to walk towards the lockerroom to get my skates. I laced them up and headed to the ice. I skated around a few times before lining myself up with the goal and sniping a hard hit to the puck. I sighed in frustration as the puck missed the goal and hit the glass, shattering right through it. I knelt down on the ice and sighed before getting up and skating off. I walked to the lockerroom and dialed Mitch's number.

"Hello?"

"Mitch, let's go out!"

"I'm down dude. Give me ten minutes."

I hung up and got dressed really quickly before heading to my car. I texted Brynn letting her know I would be getting home late and hopped in my car. I needed to get drunk tonight.
