Auston's POV:
I looked at myself in the mirror as I smoothed the black button up I had on. Brynn and I were going out to dinner and I was planning on proposing to her.
"Tonight's the night Auston." I said to myself.
I wrapped my watch around my wrist flipping it upside down to latch it before opening the door. Brynn turned around and looked at me with a smile. I walked up to her as she linked her arm with mine and we walked out the door. I opened the car door for her allowing her to get in and get situated before closing it and jogging over to the drivers side. We drove in a comfortable silence as her hand sat over mine the entire ride there. We pulled up to the restaurant and valet opened the door for the both of us.
"Welcome Mr. Matthews, we'll take your car for you." He said.
I smiled and tossed the keys to him as we walked inside. The hostess took us to our table and we sat down to order our food.
"What's the occasion?" Brynn spoke softly as she took a sip of her water.
I looked at her with a smirk. "I can't just take you out to dinner and you not question me?"
She shrugged with a smile. "Maybe."
I reached across the table and grabbed her hand. She squeezed mine as we continued to talk. As the night went on, we ate and talked with each other. We just enjoyed each other's company for a few hours. After dinner, I drove until we got to ACC. We got out and I led her to the rink. When we got to center ice she looked at me.
"What are we doing here?" She asked.
At her question every other light in the arena turned on. She watched then before turning back to me.
"I love you," I said to her. "I don't care what anyone says or what anyone thinks. I can't imagine my life without you. You changed me for the better. You made me a better son, a better friend, hockey player. You made me a better man. You've shaped me to be a great father. You make me the happiest I've ever been. Brynn you have no idea how much you mean to me. What we have will never be breakable."
I pulled the little black box out of my back pocket and got down on one knee. She smiled at me as a tear ran down her cheek.
"I want to spend the rest of my life with you. And if you say yes, I promise that I will be the best husband, friend, and father that you'll ever need. I will vow to take care of you and Elle and Kingsley with every fiber in my body." I stopped and looked down getting choked up.
Brynn lifted my head and wiped the tears off my face. "Oh, baby don't cry."
I laughed and sniffled before continuing. "Brynn Valentine, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"
She smiled big and pulled on my hand, tugging me up as she wrapped her arms around my neck. "Yes. Yes I will!"
I hugged her tightly as I heard the guys cheering behind us. She pulled away from me and turned to look at the stands seeing all the guys and their significant others watching us.
"You invited them here didn't you?" She asked with a laugh.
"Maybe." I answered back.
She giggled as I leaned down to kiss her. "I love you so much."
She kissed me again as Mitch and Freddie walked onto the ice. Jess and Steph we're behind them as they all hugged us.
"Congratulations! I'm so excited." Steph said happily.
We smiled as I intertwined our hands.
"It's actually going to happen though right? No ones getting cold fee this time." Mitch said.
I pushed him as he laughed. Freddie and Mitch continued to talk with Brynn as I watched them.
"Hey, Auston." Jess called.
I turned around. "What's up?"
"Thank you for taking care of her." She told me.
I nodded with a smile as she gave me a hug. "Ryan's in the lobby."
I walked out to the lobby and saw Ryan. He turned to me and sighed before holding his hand out. I took it as we shook hands.
"I think we got off to the wrong start. You make my sister happy and that should be all that matters." He told me.
I smiled as Brynn found us. "You're not mad are you?"
He laughed at her question. "Just as long as he doesn't break your heart again, I guess I'm okay with it."
