Auston's POV:

I skated around the ice with Elle in my arms as we waved to the fans crowding the glass. I chatted with some of the other players before I heard someone skate up behind me. I turned around and was met with the face of Drew Doughty. I smiled at him before he spoke.

"Congratulations on being voted captain. Huge honor for someone your age." He told me.

I furrowed my brows at his statement. "Um thanks I guess. Any other Kings besides you?"

He shook his head. "I see you got your family here with you."

He pointed towards Elle then towards the crowd where Brynn was sitting with my parents and sisters. Drew looked back at me as I smiled and nodded.

"My biggest supporters." I told him with an even bigger smile.

"I bet. You seem happy now that everything worked in your favor." Drew said as he went to skate away.

I frowned before swiftly catching up to him. "What do you mean?"

He looked at me as we continued to skate. "Well, Alec and Brynn were gonna get married. Start a family. But now she's doing that with you. Everything worked out for you."

I stopped him. "Look, I didn't want any of this to happen the way it did. In fact it never would have if I wouldn't have screwed up the first time. Brynn didn't want things to end the way they did between her and Alec. Trust me. She still feels guilty about that. But you have to believe me when I say that Brynn was not happy. She wasn't. I care more about her happiness then I do her relationship with me or with Alec. I just want her to be happy. Thats all I ever want for her."

Drew nodded and looked at Brynn before looking back at me. "And she just happens to be very happy with you."

I looked at him before looking down at Elle and smiling again. "Yeah. She is happy with me."

Drew shrugged. "I'm not trying to hound you. I just wanted to have a little insight you know. Looking out for my teammate's best interest. This is your weekend. Enjoy it. And remember what you have is precious. So you know not to make those same mistakes again."

He patted my shoulder before skating off to talk to someone else. I stood where I was for a few more moments before skating to the bench where Brynn was waiting. She smiled up at me as I handed her Elle.

"What was that about?" She asked as she perched Elle on her hip.

I shrugged. "Just helpful tips. Nothing to bad."

Brynn didn't seem convinced at all but let it go. "Alright. Good luck."

She gave me a kiss as she walked back up to where my parents were. I sighed before looking at the ice. John skated towards me and smiled.

"You look a little nervous." He said with a smirk.

I scoffed and shoved him playfully. "Never. Auston Matthews never gets nervous."
