Brynn's POV:

I sat down in the restaurant as I awaited the arrival of my mother. I ordered some food as I heard the door open. I looked up and saw my mother sit down. She pulled off her expensive Gucci sunglasses and raised her eyebrow at me.

"You have a lot of nerve waiting this long to call me after pulling a stunt like that." She said.

I looked up from my food and smiled at her. "Hey Elizabeth. How are you?"

She narrowed her eyes at me. "When are you coming back to LA?"

I shook my head and shrugged. "When the Leafs play in Los Angeles then I'll be back."

She scoffed. "You gave up a life of luxury for this? Living with some hot shot athlete that doesn't give a damn about you."

I started to laugh as I continued to eat my food. I ignored her as she went on and on about how stupid I was to stop the wedding and call off my engagement with Alec. I looked up and just nodded along to everything she was saying.

"Are you done?" I asked.

She looked at me shocked. I took that as my chance to speak.

"Listen good and listen hard because I'm only going to say this once. I'm pregnant. About a month to two months along. It's going to be a long journey and I'm completely ready for this opportunity to be a mother to another wonderful being. But I will not have any negativity surrounding Auston or I during my pregnancy. So your appearance better be scarce. Understood." I told her with a big smile.

She widened her eyes at me. "How dare you exclude me from your pregnancy. That is my grandchild!"

I shook my head once more. "No. This baby is Ema and Brian's grandchild. Auston's baby. Freddie's godchild. Ryan's niece or nephew. And until you learn to get your act together. To apologize for the way you treated Ryan and I as kids then maybe, just maybe I will consider letting you be apart my child's life."

My mother looked at me with a crazed look as I got up from the table. I grabbed my purse and pushed myself up from the chair. I went to walk out the door when I felt a hand grab my forearm.

"Listen Brynn, I know you believe that what I did to you when you were little was horrible and wrong but I made you into the woman you are today because of the way I raised you." She said to me.

I scoffed. "No. I made myself the woman I am today. I raised my daughter and allowed her to have her father in her life. I gave her two people that she can use as role models unlike you. Don't you dare make yourself look like a saint. You're neither a saint nor a mother! Remember that."
