Annie lay on the beach, eyes closed and a big smile on her face. The sun felt amazing on her skin and the sound of the waves had her in a state of complete relaxation. This was exactly what she needed. She turned her head slightly and cracked an eye open. Eden lay a few feet away in a black bikini that she was sure was a size too small for her. She was propped up on one elbow and was staring at Annie.

Annie pulled her shades up and smiled. "I appreciate that I look great in my bikini," She said. "And you look great in yours, but I'm not that way inclined...well, once. It was...nice...but not something I'd go out of my way for." She grinned at Eden and stuck her tongue out.

Eden smiled and shook her head. "While I'm both ways inclined, I'm not staring at you for that reason," She rolled over onto her back and huffed. "I'm just...unsure about something."

Reluctantly, Annie sat up and brushed some stray sand off her legs. "About what?" She had a feeling this was going to lead to a conversation she didn't want to have about Paul. She liked Eden but she couldn't really help her. Despite knowing Paul for close to a year she didn't actually know much about him and still suspected that he only tolerated her.

Eden seemed to be thinking hard, choosing her words carefully. They remained in silence for about a minute before Eden turned to her and shuffled over close. "It's about your visit," She said.

Annie was taken aback. Her first thought was Eden didn't want her here. That was quickly shut down by what she followed with.

"Why did their father send you here?"

Annie let out a small sigh of relief and composed herself. "He sent us to get Azrael. I think the plan is to get him and his brother to help us fight Lucifer." She shuddered as she said the name. Lucifer...the fucking devil. Despite the sun a chill ran down her spine and goose bumps pricked up along her skin.

Eden pursed her lips and leaned in close, almost like she was afraid they were being spied on by some unseen force. "The problem with that is that Azrael and Abaddon can't physically walk Earth. If they set foot in this realm they cause the Apocalypse. They are the Angels of destruction." She pointed up. "He knows that. That's why I'm worried."

A different kind of chill ran down Annie's body. A chill of total primal fear for her life. The Apocalypse...was God planning to destroy the world? And in the middle of her vacation too? She didn't realise her mouth was hanging open. She was alerted to it by a small trail of saliva sliding down her chin. She wiped it away and tried to form a coherent sentence.

Eden, seeing her distress, waved her hand dismissively. "I'm going to assume that Paul and Jared didn't tell you purely to keep you from worrying. I don't think that he will summon them, but it's been gnawing at me since I was informed of your visit."

Annie shrugged her shoulders, still terrified. "I...I don't...I need to talk to Jared."

Jared and Paul stood in the middle of the dark room, Azrael's many eyes staring and blinking at them. They knew that the darkness wasn't due to a lack of light bulbs; they were between dimensions right now in a place marked as the Forth Seal. Eden's magic allowed her to contain a void here, which allowed Azrael to maintain a presence on Earth without triggering the natural disasters and destruction that followed he and his brother in the physical world. Azrael, as the Angel of Death, kept busy in his ethereal state by moving souls between worlds, but Death had not walked Earth since the Dinosaurs.

Paul broke the silence. "I'm going to assume that you are as confused by this visit as we are," He said.

The eyes all blinked in unison and a deep, detached voice drifted out from the dark. "Something is not right," It said. "It isn't time yet."
