I woke up in an unfamiliar place, with people hovering over me that I didn't recognize. A mask was over my face, I could feel it. "Where am I?" I croaked as I attempted to sit up. A strong arm forced me back down. Alrighty then. "You're on the way to the hospital love, we need to check you out" I heard someone say. "Wha-" I started before falling back asleep.
For the second time I woke up, now in a room. I sat up clutching my head. I looked down at my arms to see I was hooked up to an IV, and I had a few other machines attached to me along with it. I glanced to the corner of the room to see Liz. "Hey Liz" I said groggily. That's when I felt small tubes in my nose. "Kat, you're awake" she smiled. "What happened?" I asked. "You fainted at school, the doctors are saying oxygen wasn't getting to your brain. They said one of the main causes of this is stress, have you been alright?" she explained. Great, school made me pass out.
"I've been okay, just really stressed about exams. Wait, what about my Math exam? I'm supposed to be taking it. I had history this morning, English and Science yesterday, then tomorrow I have Economics. How am I supposed to study here?" I stressed aloud. "Katrina, your teachers will understand, you can probably take your Math tomorrow. And if not, I'll have a talk with them. Doctors said you should be able to leave in about 3 hours" she said. I nodded before sitting back and trying to relax.
As the intense migraine started to fade, a doctor walked in. "Hi Miss Hemmings, how are you feeling?" she said with a smile. "Fine. I just have a headache" I answered. "There are painkillers in your IV, that should stop in a moment. I'm sure your aunt explained everything?" she asked. "Yes ma'am. When can I leave?" I asked eagerly. "In a few hours, we just want to make sure you're getting enough oxygen, we're glad we got to you when we did" she said.
"So what happened?" I asked, still confused on when and where I fainted. "You were at school when you collapsed. A man called in and an ambulance came to pick you up. He was tall, wearing a black shirt and jeans. He stayed with you until paramedics got there" she said. Ashton. "Oh okay, thanks" I smiled as she walked out.
A few hours later I was finally discharged and could go home, luckily Liz brought a change of clothes and I wasn't going home in a dress and heels. I quickly changed into the sweatpants, tank-top, and trainers before walking out to Liz's car. "Thanks for coming Liz" I said as we started the drive back home. "Of course. How do you feel?" she asked for about the twentieth time this hour. "Better, the medication helped" I said, looking down at the bottle of pills I was given to help with stress and the whole oxygen brain situation.
When we got home I was forced to my room to get rest. The medicine did have a very drowsy affect. Once I stepped foot upstairs Luke pulled me into a gentle yet tight hug. "Are you okay?" he asked, I could tell he's been stressed. "I'm all good" I smiled into his chest as I hugged him. "I was so worried" he breathed. "I'm fine now, it's okay" I said looking up at him. He hugged me again before helping me to my room. "You left your bag in History, I grabbed it for you" he said pointing to my purse sat on my bedside table. "Thanks so much Luke" I said as I sat down in my bed. "I'll leave you to rest. Love you" he said as he walked out. "Love you too" I called before laying down.
Once I got settled I took out my phone and went through all my texts.
