"Two days!" I say excitedly. Helping Luke pack up his room. "Yep" Luke breathed, nearly falling over. "You alright?" I asked as I taped up one of the many boxes scattered around his room. "Just tired" He smiled and opened his arms as I walked toward him. He engulfed me in a hug and just held me close.
"Kat" he said suddenly. "Mhm?" I hum and look up at him. "I'm scared. I'm so fucking scared, Kat" he sighed. "Luke, look at me" I said, looking in his eyes.
"I know it's scary, but I also know that you guys are going to love it. These are going to be the best years of your life, I know it. Luke, these are your best friends. I remember before we even started school," I smiled.
"You all talked about how one day you want to live together in a big house and just be you. Now that dream is coming true. It's just that the dream is even better than you could have ever imagined."
Luke took a deep breath and blinked back tears. "Thank you Kat. I don't know what I'll do without you" he smiled weakly. "I'll be here, you can call me whenever you want. Fuck the time difference, if you need me, call" I told him.
His grip around me tightened. "I'm sorry" he apologized. "For what, Luke?" I asked. "Being a dick to you for so long, when you needed me the most" he said, ashamed. "Luke it's okay. I didn't make it easy on you, on anyone" I comforted him. I ran my fingers through the back of his hair to calm him down, it always worked.
An hour later we were sat on his bed, just looking at the near-empty room.
"Hey Kat" he said out of the blue. I nodded and turned to face him. "I think I'm gonna go to the store and grab a few more boxes. I'll be back soon" he said and stood up. "Alright. Do you want me to come along?" I asked, shoving my phone in my pocket. "It's alright. I'll see you later" he said and walked out suddenly.
I hope he's okay
I sat there flipping my phone in my hand when I heard a knock on the door frame. "Hey Ash" I said, a smile immediately appearing on my face as I saw him. "Hey babygirl" he smiled back. I stood up and walked over to him. He pulled me into his arms and held me close. "I'm all packed" he whispered, tangling his fingers in my untamed hair. "Nice" I forced a smile. "You excited?"
He nodded, yet his face was sad. "What's wrong baby?" I asked, looking up at him. "Nothing, princess" he said, shaking his head. I frowned and tightened my grip, just staring at him. "I'm just a little nervous" he admits as we walk into my room, closing the door behind us.
I gave him the same speech that I previously gave Luke, adding in a few things that I knew would help.
He thanked me and leaned back, pulling me on top of him so that I was laying on his chest. "I'm gonna miss you, Kitten" he said, his eyes filling with tears. "Stop, I'm gonna cry" I said, my eyes beginning to water as well. "I'll miss you more" I said and kissed the tip of his nose, trying to blink back the tears.
Before I knew it we were both crying and trying to make each other feel better. "It's gonna be okay" I practically sobbed as I cupped his face with my hands.
Once the both of us calmed down a bit, I buried my face in the crook of his neck. "Baby" I said quietly. "Yes princess?" he replied, placing his hands on the back of my legs. "Be real with me" I started. "Always" he said.
"In the future," I paused. "Do you think we'll still be together?" I asked. "Of course I do. I see us together until the day I fucking die. Katrina Skyler Hemmings, you are my person. You always will be" He assured me. "Thank fucking god" I laughed, sniffling.
"We're a mess" I laughed and wiped under my eyes. "We really are" Ashton laughed, doing the same.
"I should probably get going" he sighed, looking at me with bloodshot eyes. "Alright Ash, I'll see you either tomorrow or moving day" I said standing up to hug him. He sweetly wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his head on top of mine.
