"Hey guys. Jane's here." Brendon said knocking on the door. "Hey that sounds pretty good. You just need another guitarist."
"Thanks." Kayla and I said in unison.
"Okay. Come on." Kayla put the guitars away and we went back into the main room.
"Hi girls." Jane said as we went back into the main room. She was stood with two guys our age. One I recognised the other I didn't.
"Hiya." I replied.
"So this is Jayden and this is Lukas. They'll be playing your love interests or best friends in the musical."
"Jay."
"Ava." He replied equally as unimpressed.
"You know each other?" Kayla asked.
"He bullied me in elementary or as we would call it primary." I replied.
"That was like three years ago." Jay added.
"You trying to tell me you've changed."
"Yeah actually. I have."
"Whatever."
"Anyway. Luke is playing Annabelle or Bella's love interest Kyle and Jay is playing Bobbi's love interest Markus." Jane explained. I mentally facepalmed and Kayla gave me the 'really' look.
"Well I actually wanna do this so I guess I'll have to deal with it." I whispered to Kayla.
"You'll be fine." She replied.
"The rehearsals don't start till August and the show starts on November 14th so you've got a while to heal up, learn the script and graduate middle school." Jane mentioned. "So me and Pete have discussed and we think Ava you should play Bobbi and Kayla you should play Annabelle. That's if you like the script and concept."
"Honestly. I love the script and concept. I love the songs too." I replied. "I'm just not sure if I'll be able to physically go on stage in front of a huge crowd and do it."
"Can I talk to you for a second Ava?" Brendon asked. I left the room with him and he stopped me. "Is this about Jayden?"
"Maybe." I replied.
"If you don't wanna play his love interest then you don't have to."
"It's not about that. In fact it's the opposite."
"I'm not sure I understand?"
"I like Jay. There I said it. I like Jay and have liked him since I left London. Honestly he's the person I missed the most. I'm just scared. I'm scared I'll fuck up or something and he'll hate me or judge me. I don't need him. I've got Jack. I just hope we can at least be civil and maybe even friends. I might actually have a panic attack and I-if I have a panic attack then I'll fuck everything up and I'll be judged and- and- and." I felt my breathing mess up and eyes flood with tears. I started doing breathing exercises but I barely calmed down.
"Ava. Calm down. Sh. It's okay. It's okay. Remember I had to go through all this to. I may have been an adult but come on. I'm not an adult. Look Ava. I love you and would not like it if you didn't want to do this." I nodded. "Feel better?"
"Yeah."
"You still want to do it?"
"Of course." I laughed.
"Okay. Let's go." We walked back in and I sat back down.
"So. Are you both willing to do it?" Jane asked. I looked at Kayla who nodded.
"Yeah. We'll do it." I replied. Jay smirked at me and I looked down. This is not gonna be as easy as I thought.
"Here's the full script. Read it and memorise it."
"Okay."
"I'll see you girls soon." She left us with two huge scripts and Jayden and Lukas.
"So wanna run some lines?" Kayla asked Luke.
"Sure." Luke replied.
"Can we use the room across the hall?"
"Sure. Knock yourselves out." They left and me and Jay stood there awkwardly.
"I guess that leaves us next door." Jay added.
"Okay." I replied. He helped me carry my script and backpack and we went next door. He lay down on his stomach and I sat opposite him. "So. How you been since year six?"
"Pretty bored. You?"
"It's actually been fun. Also pretty American." We both laughed and he looked at me.
"I know we got off on the wrong foot so could we start again?"
"Sure. Hi I'm Ava."
"Jayden. But you can call me Jay."
"Nice name."
"You too." I grabbed my bag and got my pencil case out. I grabbed two highlighters and handed Jay the yellow one. "Okay. So let's just highlight our lines." We sat in silence highlighting for a while and it was really awkward.
"Can I put some music on?"
"Sure."
"What do you like?"
"MCR?"
"I have a whole playlist of just MCR. Should I play it?"
"Sure." We hummed along to all of the songs then welcome to The Black Parade came on. I squealed and changes the song. Jay laughed at me and I gave him an annoyed look. "You're cute when you're scared."
"Shut up Jayden Koleman."
"You shut up Ava-Jay Urie." We both laughed at our stupidity. "God we're lame."
"Yeah."
"Should we go through the first scene we have together?" [A/n scene is in italics]
"Sure."
Start of scene
"Sorry." I muttered picking up my books."I'm sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going." The cute boy replied. "Hey. I saw you earlier in music class. You sang The ghost of you by MCR."
"Yeah."
"I love MCR." We both laughed and he helped me up. "I'm Markus."
"I'm Bobbi."
"Nice to meet you."
"You too."
"I gotta go. See you around?"
"Yeah." He ran off and I was left to stand awkwardly in the hallway.
End scene
"That scene was good." Jayden admitted.
"Yeah." I agreed.
"Hey guys?" Kayla said knocking on the door.
"Yeah." I replied.
"Wanna work on a group scene?"
"Sure. Come in here." Jay added. They both walked in and we worked on a few scenes.
Time skip
"Ava. Someone's here to see you before we go home." Brendon said walking in. He moved out the way and it was Jack."Jack!" I exclaimed. I got up (with help from Kayla) and hugged him. "I missed you."
"Ava it's only been like 14 hours." He replied laughing. "But I miss you too."
"Wait. This means. No. Dad I don't wanna go back home."
"Well we have to. Sorry baby." Brendon mentioned. I fake pouted and everyone hugged me.
"Oh Wait. I should probably introduce you guys. Jay, Luke this is Jack. Jack this is Jayden and Lukas. They play our love interests in the musical." I explained. They said hi to each other and I smiled. "Kayla. I'll see you soon." We hugged for what felt like an hour.
"Come on Ava. We need to go."
"Sorry. Bye guys."
