The Time I Went Back To The USA

After the show we had a flight to New York since we were spending New Year's Eve there because Mike was having a party. On the plane I may have had to sit in between Harley and the window because Miles and Zoe weren't coming to New York. It was also a pretty small plane with only two seats on each side so Brendon and Sarah sat in front of us with Jack and Kayla on the opposite side of the isle.

"Are we gonna talk about what happened? About what you said?" Harley asked.

"Harley this is not a great time. I hate planes and you know that. Putting more pressure on me doesn't help." I replied nearly crying.

"Hey. It's okay. You'll be fine. Do you want me to swap with Kayla?"

"If you want." They swapped and I broke down.

"Hey. What's wrong?" Kayla asked.

"Everything. I still feel like a whore and now I feel like a home wrecker." I replied.

"So you like Miles and Harley?" I looked down at my feet and tried to stay calm. "You like someone else too? How many other people?"

"Two."

"Okay. Is one of them Jack. I won't be mad. Like when I liked Hayden and you weren't mad."

"Yes fine one of them is Jack. The last one is the one I like the most."

"Do I know the last person?" I nodded. "How well?"

"Very."

Time skip
After the plane landed Brendon, Harley and I went to the apartment to drop our stuff off then we went to Mike's for a bit and to help set up for the party.

Kayla and I sat on the roof and she confessed something. "Okay so. Jack and I have broken up." She started.

"What why?" I asked. "You were perfect."

"We just sort of lost love but we're still best friends that will never change. So you can have Jack."

"Kayla I don't want Jack."

"Who do you want then? Harley?" I shook my head. "Miles?" I shook my head again. "Am I gonna have to keep guessing?"

"Yup."

"Okay then." After a while she gave up. "I've guessed everyone I know really well that it's possible you like. Who do you want?"

"Kayla. You didn't guess so I'm not telling you."

"Ava please. I wanna help you."

"But you can't!" I stood up and tried to walk away when she grabbed my arm and spun me around.

"Ava. Please."

"Kayla." Then she realised.

"Oh. So. Does that mean you like me?"

You're probably reading this thinking 'I thought you liked guys' (valley girl voice). Well I like girls too. Actually I just like people. I guess you could say I'm pansexual.

I nodded and she hugged me. "You don't understand how long I've waited to hear that." She said.

"What?" I asked. "You liked me back?"

"Yeah."

"I was always scared you would think I was crazy or not be friends again."

"So did I. Come on. Let's go back down."

"We're not gonna tell them right?"

"If you want to them Yeah. If not then no."

"I don't really want to. I'm not ready yet. You're the only one who knows."

"I don't want to either."

"Okay then. Only I know."

"Only you know what?" Jack asked coming upstairs.

"About us." Kayla added.

"Oh."

"What happened?" Harley asked.

"Kayla can I tell him?" Jack asked.

"Yeah." She replied.

"We broke up."

"What why? You were perfect." Harley added.

"Ava said the same thing." Kayla said laughing.

"Ava can I talk to you for a second? In private?"

"Um yeah sure." I mentioned. Kayla and Jack left the roof and I sat on the edge of the roof.

"Can we talk about what you said?" Harley asked.

"It's the truth. You're the one who went and got a girlfriend when I was most likely to get hurt. Then you didn't want me to be with Miles. Do I have to be a third wheel forever or do you just not want me to be happy?"

"I want you to be happy? Of course I want you to be happy. I just don't want you to get hurt. Miles May seem nice but so did Damien. Just be careful. Please."

"Why did you even get with Zoe?"

"I liked her and she liked me back. So we went on a date and then I asked her out." I nodded and got a cigarette out my bag. I lit it and Harley put his arm around me. "What will it take you to stop?"

"I don't know. I think I'm addicted. I-I don't know what to do."

"It'll be okay. I'll help you."

"I don't know if you can." He took the blunt off me, stumped it out then threw it off the roof. "Hey!"

"Step one. Hand them over. Tell me if you need one."

"Fine." I handed them to him and he put them in his pocket.

"Come on." We went back into the apartment and I sat on the floor next to Kayla.

We all played video games then it was time for the party. I got changed into a dress and some boots then went back into the living room.

Slowly everyone started arriving and it was pretty nerve wracking but I knew some of them so it wasn't as bad. Harley stayed with me all night to make sure I don't get myself into trouble even though, most likely, nothing would happen.

It was nearly midnight and I was bored out of my mind. Everyone was sitting on the couch in the living room but Kayla and I were in her bedroom watching Riverdale when the countdown started. We started hearing everyone counting so we paused the episode.

Kayla cupped my face and pressed her soft lips against mine. I paused for a second before kissing back. We both pulled away and hugged then resumed Netflix before anyone walked in.

A few seconds later Jack and Harley ran in and jumped in the bed. "Happy New Year!" They both exclaimed. We laughed and they stayed to watch Riverdale with us.
