We spent some time in the living room with Spencer and Linda when Noah started to get bored. "Hey Uncle Spence can I use your drum kit?" He asked.
"Sure kid." Spencer replied. Noah grabbed my arm and dragged me upstairs.
"I wanna show you something. You might know it. You might not." He started playing and I smiled.
"I know it already from the constant crash symbol." I replied. "I love The Amity Affliction."
"Really?"
"Yeah. My favourite songs are probably Oh my god I'm missing you and I bring the weather with me."
"Cool. Anyway. What can you play?"
"Everything except drums."
"Want me to teach you?"
"Sure." I sat at the drums and he told me what to hit.
"Not That. That. Nope."
"Like this?"
"Not even close. Get up." I stood up and he sat back down. "Come here." I stood in front of him and he pulled me onto his lap. "Okay so hold them like this and hit it like this." He held my hands and showed me what to do. "Yeah. And then that one. Good."
"Hey kids. What you doing?" Brendon asked as him and Spencer walked in. They gave me a confused look but I didn't get up.
"I'm teaching her how to drum." Noah replied.
"Wait. Ava. You can't drum. I'm disappointed."
"Sorry. Guess I'm not a true Urie yet. I'll be a Wentz instead." I joked.
"What have you learnt so far?" Spencer asked. Noah helped me play and it sounded great. "So Ava. What high school are you going to?"
"South side. Because they're good with traveling students."
"Cool."
"Okay we're gonna talk for a bit then Ava we're going home so you can learn bass with Pete, Mikey, Dallon and Tyler." Brendon mentioned.
"All four of them today?" I asked.
"Yeah. They all wanted to."
"Okay." They left the room and I played with Noah's help for a while. "Okay I have to admit something."
"What?" He asked.
"I already knew how to play drums."
"Go on then. Play something."
"I'm gonna need to get off your lap then." I stood up and he moved to stand behind me. I played my drum solo from a song me and my friends made up at the start of middle school and he was shocked. "There told you."
"Brendon! Spencer!" They both ran in and I laughed. "Ava lied to me. She's the best drummer ever."
"There are way better drummers. Like Josh Dun and Spencer and technically Brendon but he's not a full time drummer."
"Play something." Brendon looked like he was deep in thought. I played the same thing again and Brendon looked confused. There was a moment of awkward silence. "That's my girl!" He exclaimed. We high fived and I laughed. "We better get going." I stood up and hugged Noah.
"Thanks for technicality teaching me drums." I said.
"Good luck with all the Band auditions." He replied.
"Bye Spence." I hugged him and he laughed.
"Bye." He replied.
Time skip
"Ava the guys are here! I'm sending them up!" Brendon shouted from downstairs. They all walked into my room and I was doing homework."Hey guys." I said as I answered more questions.
"Wait Ava are you busy? If so then we can go talk to Brendon." Dallon added.
"No. It's just history." I finished the question then put my stuff back in my bag. "So. What's happening today? Why are you all here at the same time?"
"We all wanted to know how the Band audition went." Tyler mentioned.
"Well I nearly made it. I was second place. But I don't blame them the girl had the voice of an angel. She was almost as good as Brendon. Plus she had the looks. Not the front a band look. But she was really pretty." I explained. "Then I found out the drummer is my technically cousin."
"How can you have a technical cousin?"
"Spencer's his uncle and Spencer is technically my uncle too."
"Oh now it makes sense." Dallon said.
"Can we play bass now?" I asked getting mine off my wall.
"Woah is that a new one?"
"Yeah. Brendon got it me as a good luck present."
"What model is it?"
"It's a Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass."
"It looks so cool."
"It's also, according to google, very expensive. So be careful. I also had a huge go at Brendon for buying it but then I kept it because it's a good Bass." I handed it to Dallon and he played it.
"It's so good." He handed it back to me and I played what I practiced with Tyler last week.
"That was good just remember it's not straight to 2 it's sliding from 10 to 2." Tyler reminded.
One by one I went through all the things they have taught me and they gave me tips. "Guys I'm bored now. I wanna learn something new. Or write my ow- actually, can I show you guys something?" I asked. They nodded and I played the bass line for the song I wrote (All The Boys). They were all staring at me so I shifted in my seat awkwardly. "Guys say something."
"I quit my job." Dallon said standing up and leaving the room. The other three followed suit and left too. I sat there for a minute and then went downstairs.
"Brendon the guys said th-" I started. They were all sat on the couch. "So you didn't leave." I sat next to Brendon and he held my hand. I put my head on his shoulder and listen to him humming to the music.
"I love you." He whispered.
"I love you too." I replied. He gripped onto my hand tighter and kissed my forehead. "So Daldo. Why'd you say you quit your job?"
"Because you can just have my job. And never call me Daldo." Dallon explained.
"Why not? I'm a fan. You said fans should call you Daldo or Mr Weekes and I'm not calling you Mr Weekes. So I'm calling you Daldo."
"Fine."
