Chapter 25

A while later, Mitch, Avi and Scott were standing backstage, getting ready for their performance. 

"Are you ready to rock the stage with us, Love?" Mitch asked as he straightened his jacket and checked his in ears. 

"I am, gorgeous" Avi returned. "It's going to be our moment, our first time on stage as a triad."

Scott, who had just talked to an assistant, joined them. "You okay?" He asked.

"Yes" Mitch replied. "Just taking a moment..." 

Scott smiled and put his arms around both boyfriends. "Let me join then..." he said softly and smiled when his boyfriends returned his hug. 

"I love you and I cannot wait to slay the stage with my wonderful boyfriends" Mitch said softly. 

"Me neither" Avi returned and relaxed into the warm embrace. 

"Guys? I hate to disturb this sweet moment, but you need to go out in three, Scott and Mitch" Emily interrupted them. "Oh and by the way, are you going to introduce Avi, before he comes out?" 

The three men immediately turned around to face her, yet didn't let go of one another completely. 

"Actually, yes, I think we would like to say something, if there's enough time?" Mitch asked. 

"Of course there is, as long as you don't plan on talking for half an hour..." Emily returned. 

"No, just like a few words about the song and then of course about this lovely man over here" Mitch returned and squeezed Avi's hand. 

"Alright. Just do you. Anyway, go get your microphones, the opening speech is almost done, so the presenter will be announcing you soon" Emily said, checking her watch. "Have fun!"

Quickly, the three men got their microphones and were lining up to get to the stage just as the speaker closed his speech and got his applause and was joined by the presenter again. 

"Alright, I'll see you in a few minutes, loves" Avi said and smiled at them. "Enjoy the moment."

Quick kisses were exchanged just seconds before Mitch and Scott were introduced and made their way onto the stage leaving Avi behind. 

Bad 4 Us went by like a breeze. Both Scott and Mitch had a lot of fun singing this original song and Avi had a great time watching them from aside. Once the applause they got after the performance had died down, he readied himself to join them as Mitch cleared his throat to talk.

"First of all, thank you so much. This was Bad 4 Us, the first original song Scott and I have recorded as Superfruit. We still have another one for you, it is a cover of Katy Perry's Rise. The song itself means so much to us as a part of this community. And especially for tonight we thought it would be fitting, because I think everyone in this room knows what it's like to rise above everything society might throw at us, just because we might look different, we might feel different or love different. We sure did come a long way over the past years, but there's still a lot of discrimination, which is why I am glad to have organisations like GLAAD to speak up for us" Mitch said calmly.  "So without further ado, this is a cover we once did with our amazing friends Mario Jose, Brian Justin Crum and Mary Lambert. However, they cannot join us tonight, so we asked someone else, who is very dear to us to sing with us. Please welcome to this stage, our wonderful boyfriend, Avi Kaplan." Mitch made sure to put emphasis on the our and smiled proudly when Avi joined them on stage while the audience was cheering. 

Avi took his place in between his boyfriends, smiling happily when Mitch leaned over and pecked his lips softly and turned to Scott to get his kiss. These little gestures weren't something they had agreed on before, but it felt right in this moment and the way that the applause only got louder only confirmed this.
