Back at home, Scott tidied up and started to set the table while Avi started cooking with the help from Mitch.
They chopped the vegetables in a comfortable silence.
"And now?" Mitch asked once they were done.
"Now we'll put everything together" Avi explained patiently. He took it a large pan and expertly fried the vegetables, while explaining to Mitch what he was doing.
"How long does this have to simmer?" Mitch asked once he was stirring in the pan with the veggies and the tomato sauce. "Don't get me wrong, I love cooking, but I'd rather have this in the oven and a glass of wine in my hand..."
"About 15 minutes, Love" Avi said softly. "It takes time. But I think that cooking is rather meditative, isn't it?" he stepped behind Mitch and laid his arms around his waist.
"Mmhm..." Mitch hummed. "agreed." he continued stirring while he enjoyed being close to his boyfriend.
"You know, Avi, I've been thinking..." he spoke up after a while.
"You do that a lot..." Avi returned jokingly. "Now, what is it?"
"Well, we need to change some things in our relationship in order for it to work for the three of us..." Mitch stated.
"Now you're talking in codes, love" Avi returned. "What exactly do you mean?"
"It's easy actually, just look at it, Scott and I, we have Superfruit, and while it's technically work, it's also time we get to spend together, alone, without you." Mitch looked over to his boyfriend. "And I think that's unfair."
"I get where you're coming from, Mitch, I do, however, I have to disagree" Avi replied. "When I agreed to be in this relationship, I knew that you'd be busy with Superfruit a lot, that there would be times when I would be without you. And I accept it. Even if the past days and weeks were hard, it's all worth it and I see it in moments like this..."
This caused Mitch to smile. "You are the best boyfriend ever, honestly" he said. "But still, we should make more time for you separately. Maybe find hobbies, shared interests?"
"But then again we don't have much time for hobbies..." Avi returned.
"We'll just have to make it work."
Both men turned around to see Scott standing in the doorway, smiling at them.
"I didn't want to listen in on you talking, but I kind of did when I recognised it was about us..." Scott began. "And I'm with Mitch on this one. You might say that you're okay with the way it is right now, but I am not. I love both of you and I need to have times where my focus is solely on Mitch which I have now through Superfruit, and also times where it's you and me. And I want to have this feeling of missing you and Mitch when you're out and I'm waiting for you to come back."
Mitch nodded. "Exactly. That's what I mean. And it doesn't have to be fixed hobbies... just going out every now and then would be great. We, for example could go dancing if you fancy. I always love dancing with you when we're out..."
"Me too..." Avi replied with a small smile. "And Scott..."
"Oh we'll find something to do, dear" he winked at Avi and then leaned in to kiss both of his boyfriends cheeks softly. "How long until dinner?"
"Two minutes to fill the eggplants and twenty in the oven. Want some chicken with it, or just rice?" Avi asked.
"I think that this will be enough. After all the days full of fast food I need to step down a little bit..." Scott said and shrugged his shoulders.
