"Are you serious? I am getting married in two days, I cannot leave the city."

"You can. It's all set" Esther replied. "And just in case you're wondering: Scott will be spending the whole time with his family and Mitch will be going out of town, too. It's all organised for you."

Avi sighed. "That's not fair. You cannot keep me from seeing them."

"You will see them. On your wedding day, when you'll meet at the altar" Esther said. "And now, we'll go upstairs and pack."

"Look, Esther..." Avi tried to argue.

But Esther wasn't having anything of it. "Nope. It's all planned, all booked. You'll get over it, it's only two days. And I figured you'd love to spent some time in nature before wedding madness hits?"

Avi smiled. "Of course I do. And I also love to spend time with you... it's just so sudden. And then there's the fact that you don't even let me say goodbye to them. That's mean."

"I know." Esther winked at her brother. "But you'll love our little trip. Come with me and pack up?"

Avi took a deep breath. "You're not giving me any way out of it, are you?"

"Nope, never" Esther took his arm and urged him upstairs into the bedroom. "So... we have about thirty minutes..."

"And then what?" Avi eyed his sister curiously, but still got out his little suitcase out and laid it on the bed.

"Then we need to be gone. We want to make it before sunset" Esther said. "Do you need help?"

"Packing for a two night getaway in nature?" Avi chuckled. "No, thank you very much." He made a quick job of gathering a small stack of clothes and his toiletry bag. "See? Now I just need my guitar and we're good to go. And I have some time to write a little note to my boyfriends? Or is Mitch already gone? He would've texted me..."

"No, he's only leaving tonight" Esther replied. "Feel free to write something, I'll make us some coffee and some sandwiches for the road. No texting them, though, you'd ruin the surprise. In fact... no texting at all. I mean you won't be able to anyway, where we're going, there is no connection, but still."

Avi rolled his eyes. "Alright" he agreed nevertheless and went downstairs with his suitcase. He grabbed a piece of paper and a pen and started writing:

Hi Loves,
I assume you probably know by now that we won't see each other for the next days. And while I'm a little sad that I won't be with you, I still think that we should cherish the time with our friends and families (whoever is taking you away, I only know that Esther is taking me to nature).
I will still miss you, though and I will be longing to see you again. Esther said that it will be at the altar. This thought alone is making me giddy. It seems so close, yet so far away. A dream coming true.
This sounds cheesy, I know, but it's what I feel.
Anyway... I've been told that I am not allowed to contact you at all. Just know that I'm with Esther, I assume that she is taking me to the cabin in the woods so you'll probably won't be able reach me, but you know the number of the landline for emergencies.
So I am saying goodbye for now and I will see you again in two days. I love you, with all of my heart and I always will. Avi.

As he had expected it, his sister took him to the cabin in the woods where they spent a lovely first evening with her and Kevin who arrived a little later. They had some dinner and enjoyed a long walk through nature while the sun was setting, before they retired into the house for a game night, before going to bed.

The next morning, Kevin got ready to had to leave after breakfast, while Avi and Esther would only be leaving the next morning.

"Can't you take me with you?" Avi asked as he said goodbye to his best friend.
