Chapter 29

Tawang-tawa ako kay Ate South habang inaalis yung horror mask na suot ko. She's panting heavily like she'd ran a mile and she looks so pale. She still looks horrified of what I did.

Hinagis ko sa kanya yung maskarang suot ko kanina na ikinatili nito ng mahina. She glares at me when I laugh harder. Bumalik na yung kulay niya para lang mamula ng sobra nang sunod namang natawa si Jadey.

"Stop laughing." She demands. Kaso hindi epektib, nakakatawa kasi talaga siya!

"Bata pa talaga 'tong girlfriend ko." Jade teases habang kinukurut-kurot sa pisngi si Ate.

Ate South didn't answer but we can see it all in her face. She's clearly annoyed. I-reveal ko ba naman ang weakness niya, eh. Ang cute niya kasi! I can't help it! She always looks tough kasi and I think it's a fresh breath of air na makita siyang vulnerable.

Who will have thought that she's still a big scaredy cat at the age of twenty? Cutie! Kaka-twenty niya lang but it's not an excuse. Matatakutin talaga siya as far as I can remember. Napa-face palm siya nang sa wakas ay huminto na kami sa pagtawa. Jadey kisses her cheek and mouthed sorry.

"I hate this month." She mutters, "I'm always wondering why is it necessary to celebrate—"

"Puro kasi nakakatakot fini-feature sa tv and internet kapag November kaya hate mo. Matatakutin ka kasi." Nang-aasar na sabi ko sa kanya. Wala naman siyang masabi kasi totoo.

Tuwing last week ng October at start ng November, she will always try to avoid watching tv and locking herself inside the four corners of her room. That's the time kasi na mas active ang imagination niya so as much as possible ay lagi siyang nakadikit sa amin.

Kapag nakakatakot ang palabas, tututok lang siya sa cellphone niya habang may suot na headset and probably, naka-maximize ang volume no'n. Sa ngayon ay lagi siyang kay Jadey nakadikit. Jade thinks Ate is just being clingy to her kaya siguro ang lakas din ng tawa nito after knowing the truth.

"Ready na ba kayo?"

We all look at Ate North na nakasuot ng isang spaghetti strapped na white dress that falls just above her knees and a gray cardigan hanging on her forearm. Moments later ay suot na niya iyon.

Katabi naman niya si Westy who's wearing a navy blue cropped top and high-waisted ripped jeans.

"Nag-spaghetti strapped ka pa kung tatakpan mo rin naman." Kunot-noong komento ni Jadey sa best friend na inirapan lang siya.

Ate North is kinda conservative in her clothes. Hindi ko alam kung bakit ganoon siya but I think that's just her taste in fashion. At lest hindi siya nagsusuot ng mahabang palda with matching long sleeve na damit. She's cute nga, eh. She looks reserved kasi as always.

Ate South is the typical T-shirt girl with jeans while Jadey is the type of girl who typically wears checkered polo ralph lauren checkered tops and she really looks good and feminine in it.

Ako naman, I wear what I want to wear depending on my mood. If someone will ransack my closet for sure baka mahilo sila dahil iba-iba ang damit ko. And right now I'm in a denim blouse na may breast pocket and jeans. I think my topsider shoes complimented the outfit itself.

"Wala na ba tayong nakalimutan?" Jadey asks to no one, "The flowers? Foods?"

"Ayos na lahat. Let's go."

"Sasama ba si Dad?" I ask nang makasakay na kami sa kotse. Ate North nods at me habang binubuhay ang makina ng sasakyan.

"He said he'll bring Tita Antoinette, Miko, and Mary Jane. We'll all meet at the parking lot of the cemetery."
