Chapter 31

Forth POV

"What are you going to do with Beam?" Pha asks me. Well... It would be better to say he is intimidating me.

"Huh? What do you mean?" I ask him back.

"Don't act innocent. You already know what I'm gonna say." Pha still glares at me. I want to order some food, but knowing our conversation will be not so good, I decide to only enjoy my ice tea.

"Listen Pha... I don't think it is not the right time to discuss about me and Beam. We...."

"You want him to wait you? Seriously?"

I have become vice manager, and Beam is working in a hospital near Bangkok. We agreed to have this long distance relationship last year. Beam hasn't said anything about this. I thought he is fine. My relationship with Beam is going nowhere. I'm busy with my work, so is Beam. We haven't talked about our future plan, yet here I'm getting lecture from Phana. I realize that I'm at fault, leaving Beam alone without any proper talk. But, seriously, my work is killing me.

"Pha... did you come here only for being angry with me? I know what I'm going to do next..."

"No, you don't." He cuts my words. "I wouldn't have wasted my time only to meet you here instead of getting the earliest flight, so I can meet my Yo as soon as possible. But, my friend is also important. I don't want to see Beam fall apart."

"Wait.... WHAT? Fall apart? What kind of bullshit, Pha?"

Pha is taking a deep sigh. "Actually, I don't want to tell you, but you must know.... Beam is not in good condition. He has been taking leave for a week already, without notification. I and Kit even don't know where he is now."

SHIT

"What the hell... he texts me this morning, He....."

"When is the last time you had video call with him?" Pha sends me a dead glare.

I try hard to remember, but I myself forget when it is. I reach my phone from my pocket to call him. No response. It is connected to voicemail.

"FUCK YOU FORTH! You jerk!! You even don't know his whereabout...." Pha is ready to punch me. I'm still stunned on my seat, trying hard to call Beam. Unfortunately, it is not connected.

"What should I do?" I talk to myself.

"You have changed, Forth. I knew it since few months ago. Beam was started being restless whenever you hadn't sent any messages in the afternoon or evening. I understand you are very busy, but can't you give your little time for him? Beam was busy too, but he....." I don't listen to Pha's words anymore. I stand up and go out from the café. Pha doesn't call my name. Maybe he can tell what I'm going to do.

Beam POV

Should we break up?

This kind of thought has been bugging me since I and Forth hardly saw each other. I can't deny it happens because both of us are busy with piles of work. I work hard in a hospital while Forth is getting busy after being promoted as a vice manager. Our career goes smoothly, while our relationship gets worse.

This issue has ruined my mood, that is why I decide to take a break from my work. I understand that it will make my supervisor, Dr. Pam, angry. However, my mood will affect my performance in front of my patients. I believe it is the right decision. I believe that Kit has told Pha, who is in a seminar out of town, about my situation.

I have turned off my phone since this morning. I only texted him when I must to. It has been our regular time to send a message at 7 am, 1 pm, and 8 pm. Three times a day, like how you eat your medicine. I don't want Forth to know that I disappear. I need to get my sense back and decide what to do about our relationship.

Forth POV

His phone is still off.

Shit. What have I done?

I don't know where to find him. He must not go home or stay in his friend place other than Pha or Kit. I seriously a dead meat.

Suddenly Lam, one of my best friends, calls me.

"Hey Forth!! Are you on your way now?" said Lam loudly. This jerk does not even say hello.

"What way?"Suddenly there is a lot of noise behind the phone.

"I THOUGHT YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY TO MEET BEAM." Lam is shouting. It hurts my ear.

"Can't you speak softly? I'm not deaf. Wait.... did you just say Beam? What do you mean?" My heart beats faster.

"YEAH..I SAW HIM ON THE AO NANG BEACH....!!!" Lam is on his bike with Sharp because there is a strong wind sound, and Sharp's voice behind.

WHAT?

"OK. THANK YOU LAM. I OWE YOU ONE!" I shout at him then disconnect our phone call.

I run to my car and drive as fast as I can.The distance from my office to Ao Nang Beach is more than 150 kilometers. It will take more than 2 hours and half to reach that place in normal speed. But I'm driving more than 110 km/hour, I hope it take shorter time.

Beam POV

I have been sitting in the seashore for more than three hours. It is sunset already.

What is Forth doing now?

Does he have time to think about me?

I leave a deep sigh. I put my palm on my chin until suddenly I hear a familiar voice.

"BEAM!!!!" I turn back, and I see Forth is running from his car.

Forth? Is it real?

I'm too shocked to differentiate the reality until he is standing in front of me.

"Beam!" he whispers, and then hugs me. Tightly.

"I'm sorry. I really am. I love you." He speaks softly.

"Forth?! What....."I try to let go his hug, but he refuses.

He hugs me tightly, then continue, "I know I'm not a good boyfriend for you, but please tell me what you want me to do to make it work. I'm so sorry that I was too busy until I didn't have enough time for you. So now, please promise me that you won't do this again."

"Forth....... let me go," my voice is cracking. I'm about to cry. "...Let's break up Forth. There is nothing left between us."
