Chapter Nine

Carter's POV

I walked down the endless hallway , tears falling down past my cheeks . I thought Paiton would be different . I thought she actually liked me back . I thought she cared . But here I am , crying over a relationship that never even existed . This always happens to me : I start liking someone , they start liking me back , I make them bored I guess , and they leave me . Drop me like I meant nothing to them . Everyone thinks that I'm so strong and never let anything get to me . But honestly , everything gets to me one way or another . I keep getting myself in these horrible situations that make my heart ache & leave me with nothing but loneliness . I needed someone to make me feel important again , someone who knows how to make me feel right . And that person was Deborah . Sure , we broke up months ago but I know she never stopped loving me . I decided to text her .

Me - hi deb ..

Deborah - what do you want

Me - i just wanted to say that i miss you and never stopped loving you ..

Deborah - mhm sure

Me - i haven't . you're beautiful and it was one of the biggest mistakes i have ever made to break up with you .. please just take me back

Deborah - ....... if you really feel this way then fine . im in Miami for vacation tho )):

Me - really ? im in Miami , too . here i'll text you the address of my hotel so you can come over

Deborah - alright great . I'll be there in a few xx

Me - ok , I love you :*

Deborah - love you too

I smiled and slid my phone in the back pocket of my pants . Of course I felt a bit guilty leading Deborah on again and knowing that I'd be hurting Paiton by doing this , but I really needed someone right now .

A few minutes later , I saw Deborah pull into the parking lot . I smiled and waved at her . She got out of her car and ran into my arms . I held her tightly and kissed her cheek . " i missed you " i whispered . She smiled . " i missed you too " . We laced our hands together and began walking into the lobby . " so i decided to have some fun tonight . madison is throwing a party in her room , do you wanna go ? " I asked . Deborah nodded . " Yeah , I need a few drinks to get things off of my mind for a while " She agreed .

Paiton's POV

I walked over and sat on my bed , analyzing what had just happened . I felt bad for Carter . He looked so hurt when he saw Sam and I holding hands . I know we aren't actually a couple , but I ruined those chances . Maybe Sam is a better fit for me . But whether I was with Sam or not , Carter would be upset for a while & I'd have to apologize to him . I just couldn't find the right words to say to him right now , plus I had no clue where he had went . " just get it over with so things don't get worse " I thought to myself . I looked down on the floor infront of me and saw the guys eating pizza & playing truth or dare . I stood up and slid a hoodie over my head . " Hey Matt .. can I talk to you in private ? " I asked . All of the boys stopped playing and stared up at me in confusion . Matt nodded and stood up beside me . " When I come back it's my turn to go " He said . The guys nodded and went back to the game . We walked out of the room and leaned against the wall . " I screwed up , big time " I groaned . " What do you mean ? " Matt asked . " Well .. Sammy took me for a walk on the beach earlier & told me he had feelings for me . I didn't want to hurt him , so I said I'd give him a chance . I thought that since me and Carter weren't dating , it'd be fine " I said . " He walked me back up and we were holding hands but before we got the chance to separate Carter came and bumped into me & saw our hands . His eyes got glossy and he walked away but I don't know where he went " By this time my voice went to a whisper . Tears fell down my face . Matt pulled me close and rubbed my back gently . " Youre gonna be okay " He whispered . I pulled away and wiped my eyes . " Carter usual wants something to fill his emptiness , so he's probably with a girl . He also likes to drink when he's upset " Matt ran a hand through his hair . I sighed . " Should we go look for him ? " I asked . " That'd be best . Carter is beyond dangerous and stupid when he's drunk . We better find him " Matt said . I nodded . " But what if we go to the party and someone rats us out ? " I asked . " I bet all of the people at the part are either having sex or taking 10 shots per minute " He chuckled . My stomach churned after he said that , but I shook it off . We walked back into the room and told the boys what was happening . I changed into skinny jeans and a tanktop . Matt changed into cargo shorts and a tee shirt . Before we left , my phone buzzed . People were RTing a picture that Madison Beer posted . I clicked on it and saw a picture of Carter and Deborah together . They both looked drunk , so I began to panic . I showed Matt the picture . " They're at Madisons party , she's only a floor down from us . But we better hurry " He said . Matt and I walked down the hallway and into the elevator . I hope we aren't too late .
