The Adventure

Chapter 21

I smiled as we walked past the bakery and the large community stables, then there were rows of small houses on both sides of main street then we turned left and made a couple more turns. There was a large house at the end of the street with a white fence around the yard, there was a white stone path that led you to the porch that had a swing and two white chairs with a small table and the dark green door.

I stepped off of my horse and Ryan shifted back into his human form then I walked up to the door and softly knocked, I took a step back and adjusted my shirt then my mother opened the door with a large smile on her face. "I was beginning to wonder if you would be coming this year." we hugged for a minute then we all went inside.

~Next morning~

I walked downstairs to the kitchen and started a pot of coffee then mother walked in and we started on breakfast,"So, who's that blue haired boy?"

I smiled and looked at her"That's Ryan, the little boy from when we were kids. Remember when I was very sad? Well that was because he moved away."

She hummed in response and I got some plates and cups out then started to set the table,"So, how are things here? How are you doing?"

"I'm doing just fine and the shop is doing great, how are things with you guys?"

"It's been crazy, Eli died, I got together with Ryan, Eli was brought back from the dead, we were hunted by The Liche King and then Eli killed him. It's just been crazy." she looked at me and all I could do was laugh as Noah, Ryan and Cas walked in.

We all sat down and she giggled,"The original crew is reunited." Eli and Rosie walked in and sat down and we all ate breakfast in a comfortable silence.

~That night~

I looked at the backyard and smiled as I watched Ryan was in his wolf form running around with Hailie then Noah walked over and stood beside me"How are things with him?"

I looked at him and smiled"It's great and the family loves him so that's also wonderful. How are things with Eli?"

"There really good, he's very sweet." I giggled and he went upstairs then I walked into the kitchen.

Mom and I started a game of rummy and she looked at me"How are things with Ryan? You seem to be happy with him."

I smiled at her"I am, I mean it's just like when we were kids...before life got in the way and stole our innocence."

"That's good, I'm very happy for you...your father made me feel the same way, like everything was going to be ok and nothing bad could ever happen."

I smiled as Ryan walked in and sat beside me then I looked back at my mother,"When should we set up for the reunion? And when is Dallas going to be here? He usually does the heavy lifting."

"We'll set up tomorrow and he should get here around 12 so you could wait for him or start without him it doesn't really matter as long as it gets done." I nodded and gave her a quick hug then Ryan and I went upstairs and went to sleep.

~Next morning~

I yawned as I walked downstairs to the kitchen then mom handed me a cup of coffee, we sat at the table and she smiled at me"So, who's helping us set up everything today?"

"Ryan and Dallas will help me set up everything outside and I suppose Rosie and Noah can help you cook."

"What about Cas and Elijah?"

I laughed at the thought of either of them cooking then shrugged"They can clean up the house a bit because neither of them can cook and I only need two or three people to help me outside."

She nodded and we continued to drink our coffee then Ryan walked downstairs and layed his head on my shoulder which earned a smile from my mother. I checked the clock and it said 11:45 then I sighed and kissed Ryans forehead"Come on we have to go get started on setting everything up, Dallas will be here soon."

~Small little time skip~

I looked at the table and sighed then there was a light tap on my shoulder, I turned around and saw Dallas then I smiled and hugged him"It's about damn time that you showed up!"

He laughed and hugged back then he went over and fixed the table, I rolled my eyes and he laughed again then we finished setting up everything else.

We walked into the house to see Rosie, Noah and mother cooking then Cas walked in and stole a cookie from the large plate which resulted in Rosie smacking her hand. I laughed as Eli tried to do the same but Noah swatted his hand away before he could"Alexander come here and help me finish the potatoes." I walked over and took the spoon from my mother than I started finishing them.

~Next afternoon~

There was a loud booming voice that started to echo through the house then my grandfather appeared in the back doorway"Where are my grandkids?!"

Rosie, Cas and I all walked outside and we were immediately engulfed in a hug"Nice to see you again pappaw"

He chuckled as Noah, Eli and mother brought out the food and put it on the tables then Aunt Julie came in through the back gate with her sons and Hailie following after her then Dallas walked out from the house along with Ryan carrying water balloons and water guns. 

We all looked at them and then Dallas grabbed a balloon and threw it"This means war bitch!" I yelled and threw one at him.

I sighed and looked at my cousin Hailie"Why do you always insist on these little competitions between us three if I always win?"

"Because I'm going to win this year I can feel it." I sighed and got up then as if on cue our grandfather walked over. I set up the boards at the end of the yard then walked back over and took my position then my mother walked to the left of us and stood there.

"OK, this year the targets will be placed at 100 yards away. The way to win is to hit the middle of the target using magic. Begin!"

I yawned as Haillie summoned water and directed it at the target then pappaw summoned fire and directed it at the target. I sighed and looked at my cousin who had a smug look then I looked at her target to see that she had almost hit the center of the target but missed it by just a few inches that I smirked and summoned lighting to my hands and struck the center of the target. My grandfather laughed and walked over to congratulate me then my mother walked over and held up my arm"We have a winner!"

I grabbed a cookie and watched as Cas and Rosie sparred then pappaw walked over and stood beside me"How's the adventuring thing going?" 

I looked at everyone and shrugged"Pretty good, I've made some amazing friends and the kings are very good friends of mine."

"What's the pay like?" I chuckled and swiped my hair out of my eyes.

"The kings are very generous but that could be because we're good friends."

He nodded and Cas pinned Rosie then I screamed as someone picked me up and threw me over his shoulder then he chuckled and sat me back down, I looked up at Ryan and pouted and he laughed then gently kissed me. Everyone cooed and I blushed then he put me on his back and we went into the grass and played a game of hide and seek.

I looked at my mother and a few tears fell down my cheeks then I hugged her tightly and she smiled"It's ok sweetie, I'll come visit you soon."

I wiped away the tears and nodded then I hugged my aunt, pappaw and my cousins then we got on our horses and left.
