Prologue: Edited Version: Completed 1:46 A.M, August 2nd, 2019
"Mom, I want to start my Pokèmon journey tomorrow!" A young girl claimed, wiping a strand of her dirty blonde hair from her face as she looked up at her parental figure.
"I know you do honey, but it's too dangerous as just a ten year old, you can wait until you're a little older, right?" The girl's mother replied, kneeling down so she could be eye to eye with her daughter.
"Kids always start their journy when they're ten! And I have Haunter and Shuppet, they'll protect me!" The girl exclaimed, the two Pokèmon she mentioned floated to her side and gave a reassuring call to the girl's mother.
"And me to!" A sudden voice called. A clumsy girl pounded through the doorway and stood beside Shuppet and Haunter. The other girl rolled her eyes at her sudden appearance.
"No Rachel, you can travel on your own," The girl neglected the other, crossing her arms defiantly and turning away slightly.
"Traveling is much more fun with friends!" Rachel laughed, pushing past the two Pokèmon and rasing her hand on the other girl's shoulder. Her brown eyes sparkled with happiness in the moonlight.
"You aren't my friend, you're my sister and that's it," The girl snapped, Rachel looked to the ground sorrowfully.
"Autumn!" The girls' mother hollered, gaining the attention of the soon to be ten year old. Autumn looked up at her mother upon hearing the call of her name. "Don't speak to your sister like that, how would you like it if she spoke to you that way?" Their mother continued.
'I wouldn't care...' Autumn thought, but she knew her mother wouldn't accept that answer so she quietly spat, "I wouldn't like it..."
"Exactly, now it's getting late so you two should head to bed," Their mother stated, grabbing the two girls' hands and walking them to their shared bedroom.
Autumn and Rachel got into their beds. Rachel got comfortable under the covers rather quickly and fell asleep, but Autumn lay awake, thoughts racing through her head.
"Why does Rachel have to get involved in everything I do? It's not like I'll ever let her join me," Autumn whispered to herself and her Pokèmon. The two ghost-types nodded in agreement.
"Autumn? Rachel?" A male voice called before entering their bedroom, "Matt and I would like to say goodnight," The voice continued.
"Hi dad, Rachel's asleep," Autumn replied sitting up to face her brother and father.
Her father had green eyes with a striking resemblance to Autumn's and his brown hair matched Rachel's almost perfectly. Matthew, or Matt had neither of those qualities, he had dirty blonde hair and brown eyes like the children's mother has.
Her father sat on the bed and ruffled Autumn's hair which caused the aspiring trainer to smile. He gave her a quick peck on the forhead and said goodnight before standing up and waiting for Matt.
"Night Autty," Matt said calmly, Autumn giggled slightly at the nickname. She had found it annying when she was younger, but over the years she had grown fond of it.
"Goodnight Matt, and dad," Autumn stated, laying back down as the two left the bedroom, enclosing her in complete darkness once more.
"Autumn, you know that if you stay until your mom lets you go, Rachel will have to come with you... right?" Haunter suddenly said, causing Autumn to jump slightly when he first started speaking.
Autumn is a unique girl, she possesses the ability to communicate with any Pokèmon telepathically. Her family doesn't know a single thing about this because she never really wanted to be treated differently for this special ability.
"Yeah, I know Haunter. What I don't know is what to do about it," Autumn sighed, staring at the ceiling of her bedroom, deep in thought.
"Why not just leave now? You're ready anyways since you wanted to leave on your birthday in the first place," Haunter suggested, causing a grin to appear on Autumn's face.
"That's genious!" She hollered telepathically, as to not wake her sister up with the sudden outburst.
Autumn carefully got out of bed and walked over to her closet quietly. She pulled out a backpack and started filling it with items she felt she would need on her journey.
What exactly was she hoping to accomplish on this journey? Autumn's dream wasn't that of an average trainer's goal such as becoming champion or being a performer. Autumn wanted to join an organization known as Team Aeri.
Now, Team Aeri didn't really have a good reputation amongst the people of the world, but Autumn felt that joining would be like paying off a debt she owes to this team.
Autumn knew that her sister couldn't join her on this journey since Rachel was assigned to train the fairy-type.
In this world, trainers are assigned to train a single type based on their personalities. They take a test when they are around five or six years old to determine which type they train.
Fairy type was given to those who are honest, and with Rachel being a fairy trainer... Autumn was sure that her sister would just rat them out to random civilians about being part of Team Aeri. That wasn't necessarily something Autumn wanted.
Autumn trains ghost-types, her personality was marked as mysterious since Autumn didn't really give proper answers on the test. Along with the type assigned, the children get an egg to raise as their starter Pokèmon.
Autumn finally zipped the bag shut and placed a few hundren Pokèdollars in the front pocket to tie her over until she found Team Aeri.
Finding Team Aeri would be a struggle on its own, Autumn didn't exactly know how to go about this, but she was bound to find out someday since she would just "accidentally" run to a grunt mid-operation. Atleast that's what she planned to do.
Autumn knew that she couldn't leave without a goodbye, so she grabbed a paper and a pen and began writing a note for her family.
"Dear Matthew, Rachel, mom, and dad,
I am sorry that I left so abruptly, but I feel like I need to go on my journey alone and as soon as possible. I'm sorry if I caused worry for any of you, but I assure you that everything will be okay. I don't know how long I will be gone for, but you can count on me coming back!
-Autumn""That should do it," Autumn stated proudly, reading the note over to confirm that it was good before leaving it on Rachel's dresser.
Autumn grabbed two Pokèballs and placed them in the side pocket of her bag before lifting it onto her back.
"Let's go guys," Autumn whispered walking out of the bedroom and out the front door, she looked back into the house for a moment.
"Are you sure about this?" Shuppet asked nervously, Autumn gave the ghost-type a confident look and nodded.
"Positive," Autumn then quietly closed the door and walked onto the street. This was the start of her Pokèmon journey.
The girl gave one last look at her home before disappearing into the night with the two ghost Pokèmon by her side.
