Chapter One: Edited Version: Completed 12:42 A.M, April 7th, 2019
"Agent 48, please report to the Headroom immediately." The robotic voice of the announcement system ordered, bringing immediate excitement to me.
I'm, Autumn, but Team Aeri knows me as 'Agent 48'. I have been waiting for them to call me up to headroom for weeks now, as they previously told me that I was at the level of becoming admin. After admin, I'll become elite!
"Auuutuumnnn," A teasing voice beside me began, I turned to see my partner Pokèmon, a Haunter, giving me an evil smirk.
"What, Haunter?" I responded telepathically, turning away and rolling my eyes at the same time. I looked ahead as we exited my office, waiting patiently for him to speak again.
"You got us in trouble! What do you have to say for yourself?" He yelped, giving me a slight headache since everything he says rings through my head.
"I apologize," is all I said as the two of us continued walking, or floating, towards the elevator.
"You know, that won't get you out of jail if you were in court. You basically just called yourself guilty for apologizing for your actions," Haunter explained. Now I didn't know if he was teasing or if he was serious, but I didn't really care so I just rolled my eyes and continued walking.
The two of us continued walking in silence, Haunter held his head up high in victory of some sort. Most likely that he got the last say in our dumb little conversation.
We entered the elevator together, Haunter just floated to the back while I stared at the keypad and tried remembering which button it was. We kinda have a weird system so that if the building get invaded the cops won't be able to get to the top floor. My brain finally caught up with events and pressed the 'Help Needed' button. We use 'Emergency' incase the elevator gets stuck instead of help needed. Thinking about it, that was a dumb move since the building would go on lockdown if someone invaded, and if the intruders were in the elevator, the first thing they'd press would be 'Help Needed'.
Whatever, doesn't matter anyways. The elevator gave a jump start, making me slightly bounce off the ground, Haunter was completely fine. The two of us just had more dumb conversations in the elevator until I noticed that we were getting close to the top floor.
"Haunter, I'm gonna need you in your pokeball, you know the boss hates Pokemon in his office," I stated, the last part was just so that I didn't get the 'Why?' I get all the time. He knows why already, he just does that to be annoying.
"Ugh, alright..." Haunter replied, letting his hands droop to the floor. He looked more upset than usual, being unable to annoy me with constant whys.
I unclipped his Pokèball from my belt and held it up, pressing the middle button in order to return my purple friend.
With a flash of red lights, Haunter was gone. I sighed gently and clipped the Pokèball on my belt, the worst feeling to me? Probably loneliness.
I stood silently in the elevator, repeatedly shifting weight from one leg to the other and checking myself to make sure I didn't look terrible in front of the boss.
"ID PLEASE!" A scanner screeched out of nowhere, signalizing that I had reached the top floor. I jumped back and hit the back of the elevator, the scanner always scared me no matter how many times I see it!
I stumbled through my pockets, pulling out the ID card I had obtained years ago and held it up for the scanner to check. A green light emitted from the camera, scanning the entire card, I was careful not to cover anything with my fingers.
