     Miu Iruma had never thought she needed anyone. No, not her. She was strong and independent as far as she would have let others see.

     In normal circumstances, that was. However, trapped inside a killing game where her life could be snatched from her at any given moment was not really your normal situation. She wouldn't as much, anyway.

      She always believed, from the moment her memory cleared when she awoke from her locker and the truth of her genius streak became apparent to her once more, that her death - if it were to happen - would be the greatest tragedy and loss of all. She wasn't dumb enough to think no one would care if anyone else died, but she was the great Miu Iruma for crying out loud, letting her die would surely be costly to the whole world.

    Her survival was the only thing on her mind. Though, of course, she couldn't let the others know how cunning and devious she was, so if she put up this act, this front of being-- Who was she kidding?

     Being dumped inside this game of death had shot her nerves to pieces until she was sure that they were nothing but fraying threads on the verge of snapping-- she felt rather that it was her whole being which was close to snapping, rather than simply her thin, fragile nerves.

    But somehow, she had found a light. There was a guidance. There was something, or rather someone, good. There was, dare she say it, hope?

     Through all of the chaos and melodrama of the killing game, she hadn't noticed you at first. It took a while before she even caught eyes with you for the first time. But then she did.

     Finally she noticed you, the (talent) with the usual bright and buzzing personality and humour, stumped into silence by the killing game. Of course the other students had no idea how you really were, nor that your unnerving quietness and isolation were uncharacteristic at the best of times. You weren't sure what sure what to say, what to do, what to think.

     You were just as lost as she was, and she worked that out pretty quickly. While it looked to her like everyone else was beginning to find their feet, you were both still floundering. Out of unbridled stubbornness and a total unwillingness to allow anyone see her fail in a situation like this, she decided she should finally get her act together and get something worthwhile done, so, she took you under her wing.

      At first, it had been nothing if not for her own gain. If she could pick you up and put you back on your feet, so to speak, it would do wonders for her confidence in a situation like this. Of course the gorgeous girl genius could pull anyone out of the depths of despair, even in a situation like this, that's just how great she was, right? Yes, right off the bat, you had been nothing but a tool for Miu to make herself feel better. She didn't need anyone - but having someone need her? That could do her wonders. 

       She hadn't expected you to perk up so quickly. You really did find the hope in this blonde girl. Everyone seemed to find their own so quickly in the game, barely anyone paying you a second glance. You knew you shouldn't have been there in the first place, but it was like you were playing a completely different game to them, like you were perhaps on another team - not a part of the majority, as it were. Most of them seemed to find you particularly forgettable. 

     Then, Miu came bounding over to you. Her brash nature had you stunned, you hadn't realised people like her, with this almost comical attitude could really exist. You expected her to get bored of your timid demeanour pretty quickly, and move on to someone more worthwhile. Even if what she said could be pretty cutting to you, she somehow managed to stick around with, despite the many, many flaws she had tried to point out of you.
