It had been a while since you'd been to the beach. You had always loved it. There was no on thing, but still, the experience and atmosphere of the beach was one you were most comfortable in. So, when your close friend Kaede organised a group trip to the beach, you were practically quaking in excitement. There were a lot of you - you were surprised everyone agreed to come along, really - and you all travelled in a convoy of about 5 cars, each packed with picnic baskets, towels and beachballs.

"Excited?" A voice asked from next to you as you shuffled out of the car. You smiled widely as you turned to face your best friend, Rantaro. You had known him for a great many years, and somehow managed to stay close, even if he came and went so often with his various travels and adventures.

"What do you think?" You grinned back at him as he clambered out of the car behind you. Luckily, you had Kirumi as your driver here, so you had arrived mostly in one piece.

"You look positively bursting." Rantaro snickered as he opened the trunk of the car, taking out both yours and his bags. Of course, he didn't have to, but he'd always made a thing of doing whatever he could for you, even things that were as simple as can be.

"Come on!" You tugged on his arm enthusiastically, dragging him towards the sandy dunes while he just laughed softly and allowed himself to be pulled along. Most of the group dashed off towards the waves- whether they intended to go in the sea or not. Instead, you dragged Rantaro away - not that he really seemed to mind.

It was fairly easy to find a peaceful spot, a little ways up from where everyone else had set up their base camp. It was on the other side of a large sand dune - or, more of a hill - your view of the others was completely blocked. Not that either you or Rantaro seemed to mind that. It was private - the way you spent most of your time together.

Despite being decidedly best friends, you relationship with Rantaro had been a little more confused than just that. You were both aware of the odd nature, you both knew it wasn't quite normal the way his hand would perhaps linger on your hip for just a little longer. Did two best friends always hold hands like that? Were they always so close that their noses brushed, just inches from capturing each other in a kiss? No, not usually. You'd lost count of how many  time you'd caught Rantaro - and yourself - slowly leaning in to one another.

Not that either of you seemed to mind. Did Rantaro know what he was doing? Probably. Rantaro was not at all stupid, he probably had more experience than most of his classmates combined.

It didn't take long to set up your small area of the beach, fluffy patterned towels thrown out across the sand, parasol speared into the ground to give you both some shade, and wicca picnic basket full of supplies dumped down in the shadow of the oversized umbrella. It was peaceful, though you could hear the yells and laughs from the other side of the sand dune where you knew the remainder of your classmates had set up their own base for the beach day. Rantaro had unfolded a deck chair and reclined in it with a paperback romance novel in his hand almost immediately. The realisation made you snort.

You, on the other hand, made your way towards the lapping waves of the sea. You were only ankle deep, already donning your bikini, when a voice trilled from on top of the sand dune. Of course, there was no being off who it was, and most disappointingly, the 'ignore it and it'll go away' tactic never seemed to work with this one.

"[Y/N]-Chan~!" Kokichi came bounding down the sand dune in his red and yellow checked swinging trunks. He had a bright purple inflated rubber ring around his waist, but he quickly tossed it to the side with a wide, wolfish grin. "And Amami~! What're you two doing out all the way over here?"
