Kirumi was doing nothing out of the ordinary. For her, at least. Most people did not spend every waking moment serving others, but then again, being the ultimate maid meant she was exceedingly good at this and took a great deal of pride in her work. If anything was amiss while she was around, she would take it personally. Obviously, she had not done her job correctly if something would off.
So, very often, she'd spend her time dusting, scrubbing and polishing every surface she came across. Everything would be spotless if Kirumi was around.
She was doing the usual sweep, dusting the floors with a broom mindlessly. It wasn't mindless, in truth, she was usually deep in thought, since she had began to work like clockwork, barely needing to think about what she was doing. It had become second nature to her now.
She had entered the dorm block, expecting the usual quiet, since the most social people would find somewhere else they could all hang out, and those who stayed around the dorm were mostly quiet, anyway. However, Kirumi was startled as soon as she opened the door to the dorm block.
Her ears were instantly assaulted by blaring music and she grimaced. The early days Taylor Swift music, to be precise. That was never a good sign. But, who could possibly be listening to music like that, so loud that Kirumi wouldn't have been surprised if something was knocked over by the pulsating music, which seemed to fill the entirety of the building. There likely wasn't anyone else in the block, aside from whoever was blasting the Taylor Swift. Unless they were a hardcore Taylor fan, or a masochist. (What's the difference?)
It wasn't hard to locate the origin of the sound, she followed it, as the sounds grew louder and louder the closer she got to the door. More specifically, the door to your dorm, with your name carved neatly into the name plate.
"Y/N?" She called, though she knew there was no way you would ever be able to hear over the sound of the music, but he politeness wouldn't just dissipate. She knocked on the door, waited, then knocked on the door a little louder. When you didn't answer, she finally deemed it reasonable to enter your room herself. The door was unlocked, so she turned the handle and let it swing open, almost being bowled over by the extreme volume of the music. She tried calling out to you again, but the room was too much of a mess to see you, and you wouldn't have heard over the sound of the music, anyway.
Luckily enough, the sound system was positioned just inside the door, and with a quick press of a button, the music cut off.
You were startled, having obviously no idea anyone else had even entered the room, and from your blanket cocoon on the bed, you slowly rose with bloodshot eyes, puffy and swollen from crying.
"Y/N-?" Kirumi called once she noticed where you were, and her own eyes went wide in shock. This was definitely nothing like you, no, not at all. Your eyes met and there was a moment of mutual understanding that she had seen you at one of your lowest points. The room was a mess, there was junk food and tissues strewn everywhere.
You felt the heat of an embarrassed blush creeping up your neck, into your cheeks, and your chest heaved with emotion as a fresh wave of tears came bubbling from your eyes. They stung from all of the crying but you couldn't seem to make them stop as your negative thoughts crashed over you like waves.
It was obvious something was wrong, so Kirumi didn't plan to waste time asking pointless questions like 'are you okay?'. She picked up her skirts and delicately stepped over the mess on the floor as quickly as she could, moving over to where you were weeping on your bed.
he placed herself next to you quickly, wrapping you tight in her arms, still half cocooned in the blankets, and she pulled you in close to her chest as you cried. She held you closely, letting you shiver and sob out your heartache, face half-pressed into her shoulder. She didn't have to ask the question, you choked out an answer pretty soon.
"H-He rejected me--!" You wailed out, despite how sore your throat was. It was unlike you to ever cry over a boy, especially a simple rejection of your confession. But, the person who you had confessed to had been unnecessarily harsh, and your self-esteem had been seriously damaged. "Wh-What's wrong with me--?"
In an instant, your cheeks were cupped between her gloved hands, her visage close to yours even through the tears still swimming in your eyes. Her expression had always been this serious, but now her eyes were connected fiercely with yours.
"Nothing." She responded firmly, her gloved thumbs softly brushing over the tear-trails streaking down your cheeks. "You are wonderful, and if this boy cannot see it, then I hope he soon lives to regret it. It will be his loss..."
Somehow, her words made you feel a little bit better. Even if the tears wouldn't stop coming just yet, you still had Kirumi to hold you close. And Kirumi made herself a silent vow. If she ever found out which boy it was, she could guarantee, he would not be having children any time soon.
