" they just wanted to save everyone "

"Wake up, you lazy shanks," I shouted, shaking the others awake. Scott sat up really quickly, looking around at our surroundings.

"Are they gone?" Lydia asked in a whisper, also looking around at our surroundings.

"I'm pretty sure if they were still here, we'd already would be chopped liver," Minho told them, grabbing his things. I shoved my jacket back on because I used it as a blanket last night.

"We need to keep quiet just in case anymore are around this area," Jorge told us and I nodded in agreement.

"Come on, let's get moving," I told them, hiking my bag on my back, shoving Minho forward which made him slap me upside the head.

"Thomas, you know better than to push me around," Minho told him with a chuckle. I looked up at him with a playful glare, slapping him upside the head. It soon turned into a slapping contest which made Jorge split us up.

"You two are idiots," Jorge muttered, pushing Thomas and Minho to where they were in the lead.

"Why are we going? They could still be out there," Kira told us with wide, frightened eyes.

I looked back at her and smirked. "Would you rather stay here and come dinner to those things or would you rather run and maybe survive?" I asked her, looking at Scott who put his arm around his girlfriend.

"Maybe!?" Lydia screeched them lowered her voice, "maybe survive!?" She asked again, walking up to me with a glare.

"You are the ones who wanted to come," I told her and turned around. I wanted to find Newt.

Newt was always acting like a mother, if he was here, he would know how to deal with all of this. But then again, if he was here, we wouldn't have a reason to be in the scorch. We wouldn't be anywhere near W.C.K.D.

We made our way up the mountain of rocks, which took about twenty minutes, thanks to people sliding and tripping.

I rolled my eyes at them, they're supernatural creatures and they're having trouble with climbing some rocks. It's hilarious because Minho, Jorge, Brenda and I are humans and we are climbing it without any trouble, maybe some grunts here and there but that's besides the point.

Once we made it to the top of the mountain of rocks, Lydia was breathing heavily and was mumbling curse worse under her breath. "We're over here, having trouble breathing and you look like you could run another marathon or two," Lydia told us which made me chuckle.

"Like I said, we have had practice," Minho told her, turning around to look at our surroundings.

"By the looks of it, we aren't far from the city, or at least what is left of it," I told the others, looking over my shoulder to find Lydia still glaring at me. I rolled my eyes at her, turning to face forwards again. "Let's go," I said loud enough for them to hear me. I then took the lead with Minho by my side.

"Stay close just in case anymore cranks show up," Minho announced, not even looking back at the others.

All we heard were some 'hmph's' meaning that they heard him.

"Also, watch out for anything else," I told them, picking up my speed.

"Like what?" Isaac asked me, fixing his scarf that was hanging loosely around his neck.

"If you hear a plane, tell us, if you hear four-wheelers, tell us. Just tell us if you hear anything like that or get a glimpse of anyone. Most of the people left in this place are evil, so we need to be very careful," I told them, giving them my serious look, to show them that I was not kidding around.

"How could someone be bad?" Kira stupidly asked. "It looks like nobody would stay here," Kira told us, making me roll my eyes.

"Don't judge a book my it's cover," Brenda told her, sending me a side-ways glance.

"People can be bad and people can be good," I told them, looking over at Brenda who had made a 'hmm' sound.

"Mountain people," Brenda muttered making us turn to her. "Would he be in the mountains?" She asked Minho and I.

"Probably not, Rat-man and Ava would look there first," I told her and Minho nodded in agreement.

"He's right, we need to look somewhere that they wouldn't look. Newt is smart and careful, he would know how to cover his tracks, especially since everything we have been through," Minho explained to them, patting my shoulder.

"He's right, Newt is too smart for his own good," I told them. I was going to say something else but was interrupted when it thundered. I looked behind Scott and the others, wide-eyed. I glanced at Minho who had a terrified look plastered on his face.

"Not again," I heard him mutter. He looked at me and I nodded, knowing that we needed to run.

"Run!" We yelled in unison, running towards where the broken city lies.

"Hurry up!" I yelled back to them, grabbing Brenda's hand because she looked like she was having trouble with running.

"Keep up!" Minho yelled.
