Chapter 20: Claimed

Picturing Ian as Thanatos just seems right to me lol

"You claim her as your lover now?" Draco asked in shock. Only he can make a situation ten times more awkward.

Thanatos cleared his throat. "I'm tempted to shove you back in the hole you crawled out of."

Lucifer slowly started clapping his hands. "Well, well, well, the truth comes out. So that's why you're so desperate to protect her? What changed brother? Just thirty years ago you were desperate to kill her."

They always talked about me like I wasn't in the room. Always discussing my past. It sucks not being able to remember anything. I wonder if my life would be much easier if I could. Like who to stay away from and how to hone my powers. There's so much of my powers that I haven't tapped into yet. I can feel it just sitting there dormant, waiting to be released.

Instead of replying to Lucifer Thanatos turned to me. "Do you remember the night we first met?" He questioned.

I started to feel uncomfortable. He means the night I almost committed suicide. Why was he bringing this up now? I never wanted to talk about that night again. It was the lowest part of my life. "Um yeah."

"I came to kill some random girl whose time was up but instead I found a broken girl. Not from a guy cheating on her, but from never receiving the love she so desperately wanted. I felt this untapped power coming from you in waves, yet you sat there looking completely hopeless and weak. So I pushed you, hoping you'd reveal your true self. I didn't know you were the phoenix then, but you were still the strongest human I ever seen. I kept you alive longer so I could watch you, but nothing changed. It wasn't until you died, and the phoenix tattoo appeared that I realized my mistake. That was the moment your parents knew you'd been reborn." So that's why he tortured me? He wanted me to lash out at him? "It was also the night I started falling for you. I saw the fight in your eyes, the will to live no matter what. I knew then that I never want to see that broken girl again. Even if it meant protecting you with my life."

"So you're desperate to protect her because you love her? That's it? What a bunch of bull crap." Lucifer laughed. I really didn't want to have this conversation with an audience. This was the first time thanatos was really opening up to me. Shame he chose this moment with a room full of people. I had to pretend like his words didn't affect me at all. When in reality I was having a mini celebration. Thanatos loved me! Who would've thought.  "She's not yours to claim." He snarled.

"You have only brought death to Isabella for as long as I've known you, who's to say this isn't a trick?" Draco demanded. I could see his hand hovering over his sword. The guy really need to get laid. Release some of that stress.

"I don't have to explain myself to anyone of you. We're all here for a reason and its to protect Isabel. If you think I'm here to try and prevent that, then go ahead and try to kill me." I guess he noticed him reaching for his sword too. "and rather you like it or not brother, I'm the only one that's going to claim her." He smirked in his direction.

"Hello? Still in the room. Look I appreciate the offer, but I got bigger problems to deal with than relationships." I cut in trying to ease some of the tension in the room. The temperature was dropping the more words were exchanged.

"Just like you claimed someone else we know?" He raised an eyebrow, smiling in his direction. Like he has gained the upper hand somehow.

Thanatos out right laughed in his face. "You dare bring her up? As a threat against me? Who's really desperate here."

I looked back and forth between them in confusion. Who were they talking about? "Who are you guys talking about?"

They both turned to me just as a blast of energy went through the room, knocking everyone off their feet, except Draco who stood as still as a statue. "What the heck was that?"

Draco's eyes shifted to a dark purple. "They're close." He reached for me, pulling me to my feet.

"Who's close?" I stepped closer to him in panic. I could feel his magic shimmering beneath the surface of his skin. There were weird runes appearing all over his arms. 

"Your parents, they found you."
