Where to go from here. If Pablo and Kens expedition proves to be a waste of time, I don't know what else we can do. I thought hard on a next move but my thought process was interrupted by the sounds of thumping against the floor.
I looked up from my papers and saw Odessa pacing back and forth. "Do you mind?" I said to him. He shot me a look then walked out the room, slamming the door behind him.
He's been aggravated toward me for a few hours, now. After Ken and Pablo left, he wanted to return to the facility that held the lab I destroyed and destroy the whole thing. I told him how dumb & reckless that plan is and he took immediate offense to it.
"You must be used to this." Alyza said, taking a seat next to me. "What do you mean?" I asked. She brushed her lap  and then put her hands into it. "Well you're smart. You seem to be the lead-" I interrupted her. "Oh no, no. I'm no leader. Especially to these guys. I'm just doing my part." She just smiled at me. "Either way, you're smart. You must be used to lesser people getting aggravated at you?" She said. I looked down at my papers. "Odessa isn't lesser than me. You shouldn't talk about people like that who you don't know. He's just agitated." I said.
She stopped smiling. "Sorry, I don't know how to read people well. I never really had friends growing up. I'm sorry, you probably don't want to hear this. I'm sure you had lots of friends." She said.
My face began to burn. "You're wrong." I said. She looked at me with wide eyes. "I didn't have anyone. My dad walked out when I was a baby and my mom resented me for it. Because of that I never tried to make friends. I felt like I wasn't worthy enough." I finished with. She stared at me a bit longer before speaking again. "I think you're worthy. I like you a lot. You're probably my favorite here because I relate to you so much." She said while cracking a smile.
I flapped the papers. "This is frustrating. I need Dalton here." She cocked her head. "Dalton?" She asked. I looked at her. "Yeah, he's one of us." I said. "Oh well he must be something if you speak so highly of him." She said. I looked back down at the papers. "Nah, he's an ordinary guy. However he's been my only friend the last few years. He's lived close to me so we kept it touch. We would often brainstorm together. I guess I can only speak highly of the only person who gave me company. I don't have anything to compare him to." I said, chuckling.
"I'm sorry about intruding on this, you must be devastated by it." She said.
I continued to stare at my paper, only glancing over at her every few seconds. "No. As I child I hurt often. Tears became normal for me. Most people don't understand the pain of being a child and wanting to die. It wasn't until I Discovered these guys that I felt relief. They've all experienced my pain one way or another and that was comforting knowing I'm not alone." I said. I cracked a smile and felt my eyes begin to water.
She leaned in and hugged me. I've never opened up like that to anyone.... but with her... I just feel comfortable.
"Excuse me." I said, pulling her off me and standing up. I walked into my room and laid on the bed. I took a deep breath and looked at the ceiling. Is this what therapy is like? I thought to myself before chuckling.
I remained alone in my room for a few more minutes before leaving it again. Alyza and Marz were on the couch, listening to music and laughing amongst themselves.
I walked past them and went to the balcony. I leaned against the rails and just looked out into the city. I see why Dalton enjoys this. It's comforting.
Suddenly Alyza and Marz walked out to the balcony. "It's getting late." Marz Said. I took a deep sigh. "Yeah, I know..." I responded.
"Let's go get him."
