Tae
"Ready?"
I snapped out of my repetitive thoughts and looked up. Kelly grabbed my hand and nodded towards my security to escort me to my car.
"My cousin Kimber has Titan tonight," she spoke, "and I don't wanna interrupt his play date with her son, Kevin. But tomorrow morning, I'm coming to you."
"That's not necessary." I mumbled.
Our last night had finally come and gone. After an electrifying performance, the girls and I along with certain members of our teams came to the Four Seasons private sector bar for drinks in downtown Houston. The time had come to part ways and I felt all types of ways about it.
"I need to be close to make sure you're okay." She said matter of factly.
"You don't," I assured her, "Trey's in the car. He's coming home with me."
She studied my face and sighed.
"Call me when you get home?"
I nodded as Rich opened the back door of the Phantom.
"I got you."
"For real, Tae."
"Kelendria, I got you," I assured her before getting situated inside, "it's been fun."
She smiled as her eyes got misty.
"Even with the bumps in the road, it's a ride I wouldn't take with anybody else but you and that girl in there."
I smiled weakly and blew her a kiss.
"Kiss Titan for me."
"You and Trey do the same with your babies." She returned the gesture as Rich closed the door.
Trey sat inside concentrated on a phone call he was on.
"I get that, Pops. I just think whatever it is can wait, right? It's been a long year, the holidays are coming up, with everything that has happened, I think maybe she...not another meeting. Not right now. We got a flight to catch."
I sighed and laid my head on the heated leather headrest.
Why was he talking to my father?
"But....but Pops....i'm saying....right. I said you right...."
He held the phone away from his face and cursed silently.
"Okay, we'll be there."
Fuck.
He ended the call and slowly turned his head my way.
"Your father wants to meet before we leave."
After Philly, he disappeared and I was glad about it. He hadn't reached out until now and I had nothing to say to him either.
