"When we get to Nana's, what we doing first?"
Trinity distracted me from my thoughts as she got comfortable in my lap. She'd been sleep for the last forty five minutes and was now wide awake and ready for action.
"Ummmm... I don't know. What you wanna do?"
"Swim!" She replied enthusiastically.
"Yeah, me too." Rose added from the seat beside us.
Her iPad was nestled into her lap cozily as she played a game.
"Maybe we can make that happen."
Lashontae sat a few feet away with TJ wrapped in a blanket as we flew to Virginia. As I watched them cuddled up watching a movie, my brain went back to the flowers delivered to her this morning.
"Baby doll?" I said softly.
"Yes daddy?"
"You'd tell me if Mommy had a boyfriend, right?"
She giggled and discreetly checked to see if her mother was listening.
"Yes, but she doesn't." She whispered.
"Are you sure?"
"Uh huh. Want me to go ask her?"
Instantly, she jumped off my lap eager to go bug her mother.
I smiled and tickled her making her squeal.
"Nope. Our secret." I whispered, "say it's our secret."
"It's our secret!" She whispered loudly.
An hour later...
"What's up Mumma?" I yelled walking in her kitchen where she was preparing snacks for the kids.
She looked up and smiled.
"My big baby, heyyy," she spoke giving me an embrace, "I missed you more."
I pulled away and gave her jaw a kiss.
"I brought some people to see you."
I pulled her by the hand to the living room.
"Ooh Nana's stinker butts!" She exclaimed giddily as she walked faster.
I laughed at how excited she was. These children were the light of her world and I was grateful to have her so hands on with them.
"Nana!"
All three of them screamed and hauled ass running in her arms.
Her face lit up even more as she squatted down to reach them.
"Hey my babies," She yelled hugging the life out of them. "Y'all made it!"
"Yeah, we did," Trini excitedly told her, "Can we go swimming?"
