Trey
"These are for you."
She sat at the kitchen bar flipping through a content binder.
I tried to hand her two dozen white long stemmed tulips but she ignored me.
Two days had passed since I stayed the night with Rose and she had barely said another word to me after our last conversation.
"Sit them there."
Still barely acknowledging my presence, she continued looking at the binder.
"Can we talk? Or we just gon keep walking through this bitch like strangers?"
"Nothing to talk about. Leave the flowers Tremaine and go on about your business."
"No," I replied pulling out the barstool next to her, "apparently, there is something you need to say. You still mad about the other night..."
"You fucking right, I'm mad about the other night," she interrupted me as she closed the binder shut, "you better be glad I respect you and I'm pregnant. Otherwise, I'd try to kick your ass."
I sighed.
"I admit, it was wrong for me to stay the night, but I swear, it was not on no bullshit. Rose is sick and had been asking for me, so I went by. Literally, she clung to me and fell asleep when I went in her room. I didn't want to wake her up cause she was resting so good. I laid there with her, watched the game and ended up falling asleep. Next thing you know, I wake up and it's morning."
"Why didn't you just bring her back here?" She argued.
"Cause she was at her house with her mother. She was sick, baby. I ain't wanna take her outta her comfort zone. Besides, I don't know if what she got is contagious. She doesn't need to be around you or the kids right now."
"Yet, you go over there and sleep up under her and then come back here with us. It's the same difference, nigga."
Again, I took a deep breath.
"I didn't think it was necessary for me to move my sick child from one house to another to appease you."
Her eyes got big as she wagged her finger in my face.
"You making it real hard for me to not pounce on yo ass."
"I'm saying..."
"You ain't saying shit that I wanna hear," she interrupted, "are you dumb?"
"Tae..."
"I moved out here because before you left, you told me one of the things you were stressing about was being so far from me and the kids as we try to navigate this relationship again."
"Doll..."
"I wanted to show you that even though I have some reservations about us getting married again so fast, I still want this. I want you. And now I'm here and so is this bitch. And now, you sleeping over with them while I'm here with your kids at your house."
