Nightmares were a common thing in Evelyn's life since she had met Sam and Dean.

She abruptly sat up in bed, sweat dripping down her forehead and gasping quickly for breath. She clutched a hand over her chest, gripping the fabric of her t-shirt tightly. Her whole body felt cold and hot at the same time and tears stung her eyes, her sweaty palms just making her feel even more conflicted.

Evelyn suddenly threw the covers off of her legs and swung them over the side of the bed, hesitant to put her feet down. After the nightmare she just had, her childhood fear of everything under the bed seemed incredibly realistic-even if she had witnessed them first hand. Evelyn ignored her thoughts and hopped off the side of the bed, grabbing her phone off of the nightstand and unplugging it from the charger. The tile of the bunker was cold against her sock covered feet.

Evelyn pressed the home button on her phone and brought up the lock screen, a tear slipping down her face as she did so. It wasn't from the photo that adorned her wallpaper-which was the same photo of her on Sam's back laughing because he tripped and Dean was serious in the background. The time on the screen read 2:44 a.m and Evelyn scrubbed a palm across her eyes.

Evelyn opened up the flashlight on her phone and stood up from her bed, walking to the door and opening it slowly so it wouldn't creak. The light shined brightly against the walls of the bunker, causing the darkness to seem less eerie. Evelyn took a few steps and started her journey to the room exactly eight doors down from hers.

Halfway down the hallway, Evelyn saw that Mary and Sam's bedroom doors were open. Evelyn shined the light from her phone to the right and on the floor of Sam's room and saw him asleep, his back resting against the headboard, his head rolled to the side and his laptop resting on his legs. Evelyn looked to the left two doors down and saw no Mary in her bed. She must still be doing her own thing in the world. She had left the day after Evelyn's kidnapping, and the boys had only gotten little updates in the form of text messages from her since. Mary just wanted her space.

Evelyn shined her light back in front of her and continued walking, arriving at her destination. The door to the room was shut and Evelyn turned off the flashlight, opening the door slowly and quietly, sliding into the room, and closing it behind her.

Dean's soft snoring could be heard echoing off the walls. Evelyn let a sad, closed mouth smile appear on her face and felt another tear slip down her cheek. She shivered again at the thought of her dream.

Evelyn walked over to the side of Dean's bed, seeing vaguely in the dark where the outline of his body was under the comforter. His back was facing Evelyn, and she suddenly felt like she was six again, running into her mother's room to seek comfort. Evelyn felt more tears fall down her face and a few goosebumps raise on her arms at the thought of her mother. Evelyn reached a shaky hand out to Dean's shoulder and clasped her petite hand around it.

"Dean?" Evelyn asked softly putting her phone on the nightstand next to Dean's charging one and shaking his shoulder with both hands.

Dean suddenly groaned and abruptly sat up, hand flying under his pillow and grabbing the loaded pistol he kept there. He faced Evelyn now, his eyes alert and open as he pointed the gun at his daughter's face. Evelyn's hands flew up beside her head as a sign of surrender, heart racing as Dean grabbed the collar of her shirt and pulled her closer to the gun.

"Dad, chill, it's me!" Evelyn sputtered out, voice cracking as she tried to get out of Dean's grip. She felt the tension soften and Dean let go of her shirt and he realized the outline in the darkness was his daughter and, in fact, not an intruder.
