Evelyn allowed Sam to rest his weight on her as the two, Dean, and the couple walked into another cabin. Dean held his gun and flashlight at the ready while Evelyn and Sam followed behind him. The five people had been walking for a little over an hour, realizing they needed a break after Sam had almost fallen over due to his wound hurting so much. Sam realized Dean was getting tired about half an hour ago and Evelyn volunteered to help support his weight as Dean lead the group.
"All right, see if you can find a-a radio or a phone." Dean instructed, tossing his bag down on the floor as Sam took his arm off Evelyn's shoulders and resting against the back of a chair. Sam motioned for her to go help the couple and she raced over to them, helping the man, who had introduced himself as Corbin, sit the woman, Michelle, down gently in a chair. Evelyn turned towards Dean to see him messing with a rotary dial phone behind the counter. Evelyn quickly looked around, seeing they were in a type of service cabin.
"Anything?" Sam asked, limping over to the counter and resting against it. Evelyn turned and saw a blanket draped over one of the chairs and grabbed it, handing it to Corbin as he muttered a 'thank you' and wrapped it gently around his wife.
Dean started hammering his finger down on the receiver of the phone. "No, it's dead." Dean said in frustration, placing the phone back in it's original position and continuing to shine his flashlight around the room. Sam let out another groan of pain as Dean began to open cabinets, finding two old lanterns from underneath the counter as Evelyn walked over to Sam, letting him slide his arm that wasn't pressing against his wound around her already sore shoulders.
"Find any matches?" Evelyn asked Dean, watching him set the lanterns on the counter.
"Yeah, under the counter with them. 'M gonna light 'em up." Dean said, nodding at Evelyn.
"You good, Sam?" Evelyn asked her uncle, turning her head to look at Sam, whose face was slightly scrunched up in pain. He gently nodded his head, letting out a small gasp.
"Good." Sam replied, seemingly breathless. "'M fine." Evelyn noticed how he leaned on her a bit more, and she cautiously grabbed Sam's hand that was hanging off her shoulder. She squeezed his hand tightly, noticing how his large one practically swallowed hers. She let go and continued to let Sam lean on her.
A small bit of light suddenly filled the room and Evelyn looked at Dean, who was shaking out a match he had used to light the two lanterns. Sam started walking towards Dean slowly, using Evelyn to support himself as he limped towards Dean.
"Okay?" Dean asked, eyes narrowing slightly at his brother.
"Yeah." Sam panted, grabbing one of the lanterns from the counter and pulling it towards himself as Dean carried the other one to a table that his bag laid under.
"Maybe you should sit, Sam." Evelyn said, her voice laced with concern. Sam shook his head and leaned more on Evelyn. She would really prefer if Sam didn't die yet. Dean bent down to his bag and began to shuffle through it, shining his flashlight into the material.
"Hey." Corbin said, getting frustrated when Dean didn't look at him. Sam was panting in Evelyn's ear and she tried to focus on how rough the sleeve of his flannel felt against the back of her neck. "Hey, we got to keep moving!" Corbin looked at Sam. "Those of us, who-who can."
Evelyn went tense under Sam as Dean stopped shuffling through his bag. Dean turned his head to give Corbin a death glare.
"What did you say?" Dean asked, his voice slightly angry and confused as he stood up from his bag and took a few threatening steps towards Corbin.
"I..." Corbin started, turning away from Dean to glance out the window, then back at Dean. "Look." Corbin began, standing up from his wife and walking to Dean. "Hey, Michelle's really sick, but she's got a chance. Him," Corbin glanced at Sam then back to Dean, "he's slowing us down. And if they find us-"
