However actually executing our plan was more difficult than we had thought. Jungkook seemed constantly absent and we didn't have anyone else to ask about it. So I just sat in my maths lesson, tapping my pencil onto the desk with record speed. The girl next to me looked annoyed as hell but I couldn't care less. Where did Jungkook go? After almost two weeks, I wasn't even worried because of Jimin's plan anymore but more concerned about the young boy. Jimin and I had one class with him each and he had attended neither. It had to be more than a coincidence.
The ringing of the bell disrupted my thoughts and forced me to get up from my comfortable position to go to next lesson's classroom. With a sigh, I adjusted my ponytail and shouldered my bag.
The sheer flood of students in the hallway made me realize how little of them I actually knew. Of course a few seemed familiar and some names popped into my head but aside from Jimin and Taehyung I never *really* talked with any of them. And I was sure that at least one of those people must have known something about Jungkook. As if fate wanted to push me in the right direction, the stream of students became lighter and my eyes spotted two boys leaning onto their lockers. Seeing as this was my only chance of getting some sort of information I tried to make my way across the hallway, bumping into older and younger pupils alike."Uhm, hey, Yoongi-sunbaenim", I suddenly regretted my decision to walk over. He turned in my direction, face expressionless. Next to him stood one of the tallest guys I had ever seen - however he acknowledged me with a smile at least.
"What is it, Hayoon?", Yoongi tilted his head.
Although my senior did seem nice, he still somehow intimidated me. I gulped, scratching my head "I haven't seen Jungkook for almost two weeks... Uhm... Is he alright?", I sounded more concerned than I probably should have.
Yoongi slightly parted his lips and exchanged a quick gaze with the tall boy before answering "That's very nice of you. Jungkookie-ah had an accident and needed some time to rest. He'll be back next week", his smile seemed weak.
I nodded. God, an accident? My curiosity wanted to know what happened but my rational side told me to just leave it at that. "Thanks for telling me. If he needs any help with maths, I could copy him the exercises we did or something", I offered.
Yoongi's expression softened "That would be good, I think. Could you maybe give me your number or something?"
For a second I froze but then I understood what he meant and quickly added my contact to his phone. Well, Jimin would be jealous of that for sure. To be fair, it felt really weird to give such a popular guy my number but I couldn't complain. After saying goodbye, I went on to my next class, a mixture of happiness about the conversation with Yoongi and concern for Jungkook filling my mind.
Later that afternoon, I worked at my parents' restaurant as usual. They had opened the small business about ten years ago and it was my duty to help by waiting the tables whenever there wasn't too much homework. Guests would only start trickling in in a few hours so I was stuck mopping the floor and listening to Jimin whine about some new crush of his. My best friend had taken a seat and was fixed on his phone as always. I couldn't stand his exaggerated stories anymore so I interrupted "Min Yoongi wanted my phone number"
Jimin's eyes widened, instantly having forgotten the other boy he talked about a few seconds ago "He WHAT?"
I leaned the mop onto the wall "Min Yoongi asked me to give him the number which he needs to contact my cell phone", I repeated sarcastically.
Jimin seemed too shocked to notice "But I was so sure that – ", he fumbled with his words.
Chuckling, I explained "So I could help Jungkook catch up on maths"
His expression changed from curious to calm to confused in mere seconds "You asked him about Kookie?"
I shrugged "Yes, because I was actually starting to get a bit concerned. Turns out he was in an accident"
Jimin processed the information and furrowed his brows. He opened his mouth only to close it again, pursing his plump lips.
"What?", I raised an eyebrow and sat down on the opposite side of the table. Normally, my best friend wasn't one to think before speaking.
"Nothing... just a weird hunch", he shook his head.
This wasn't good. "Chimchim, tell me", I stared at him intensely, knowing how much he hated keeping his mouth shut.
Jimin looked at his hands, briefly closing his eyes and exhaling before finally answering "You know how Taehyung had that bruise on his knuckles about two weeks ago?"
I nodded, a dreading feeling in my stomach as Jimin continued "Well, I saw those on his friends, too"
My eyes fluttered shut, knuckles white from grabbing the table.
"I'm... Maybe I'm wrong but it's just a weird coincidence", Jimin's voice was merely a whisper.
I took a deep breath and opened my eyes again, fighting back my fearful tears. With gritted teeth, I spat out the only words I could think of "I fucking knew it"
