After we parted ways with Jungkook, I immediately whispered at Jimin "He's not friends with Tae, is he?"
My best friend pursed his lips before hesitantly answering "Not exactly... Tae introduced us with the words 'Say hi to this loser, Jimin'"I clenched my fists. This absolute asshole. "I can't stand him anymore", I hissed. Jimin sympathetically put a hand on my back and tried to calm me down "You know that Taehyung's powerful at this school"
Sadly, he was right, as usual. One time I had told him to quit sexting with another girl and he immediately threatened to spread the pictures I had sent him. I was powerless. With my head lowered, I quietly followed Jimin through the hallways. Lost in my thoughts, I had reached my arts classroom and my best friend had vanished. Since I'd always been good at drawing and doodled nonstop, the principal had allowed for me to attend the upperclassmen's art lessons. But it was my favourite subject for a whole other reason.
There he sat, slowly getting out his brushes and chatting with the teacher who admired the artwork he had created at home – Kim Seokjin. My heart doubled its pace and my frown turned into a sheepish smile. Ever since I started attending the same course as him, I promised myself to finally talk to him. Only a small greeting, nothing too hard. But to me it seemed as difficult as flying to mars and back. And today was no different, his perfect face made my heart tremble and the way his eyes crinkled when he smiled made me unable to form even a single coherent thought. And so I just sat down at my desk as usual. In this course, nobody cared for my relationship with Taehyung, I was just some young shy girl with a bit of talent. Not that I minded, it was easier to not embarrass myself by staying quiet. And my grades profited from this work ethic as well. Plus, I could sneak glances at Seokjin all I wanted. Right now, he laughed at some dumb joke of one of his friends, Hoseok. He had red hair and a really positive attitude. Actually, Hoseok was the only one who had ever complimented a painting of mine at school. Granted, he probably still didn't know my name and neither did Jin (that's was his friends called him and I sometimes imagined myself having that privilege as well). After all the students sat down, the lesson began, making me focus on the strokes of my brush only for the next hour. Our current topic was 'freedom', and I had chosen to paint a single flower in the middle of a clearing in the forest. For once, I used colours I usually avoided, such as pink. Don't judge, but I'd never been the type to like pastel colours, I preferred a deep blue or emerald green. But, as a painter, you should always step out of your comfort zone and so I enthusiastically mixed a bit more white paste into the lilac on my palette. Having finished half of the flower's petals, I went to wash my utensils, as the lesson was going to end soon. At precisely 3PM, I left the room, only to be called back by an unfamiliar voice "Hayoon-ssi, wait for a second please"
I turned around and searched for the face matching the voice. To my surprise, it was Min Yoongi. He must have waited outside the room for his friends. Confused, I walked back in his direction. I didn't have any classes with him and he never seemed like the guy to casually approach someone. He adjusted his black curly hair before clearing his throat "Thanks for sitting with my brother today"
"O-oh, no problem. You should thank Jiminie", my voice sounded more stable than expected. The other students slowly began leaving the room as well, passing us with confused looks.
"You were easier to find", he smirked before looking more serious again "he usually sits with my friends and me but we had an exam today that extended into the break"
I nervously tucked my hair behind my ear "How do you even know who I am, Yoongi-sunbaenim?", the question had laid on my tongue for the entire conversation.
"Ah, Jungkookie-ah mentioned that he sat with Park Jimin and Boo Hayoon and I knew you were in this class because he mentioned you a few times", he pointed behind me and I turned around slowly, confused at who would ever talk about me.
Perfectly styled raven hair, broad shoulders, a few blots of paint on his white shirt and the most angelic smile ever. Seokjin. I wasn't sure what my facial expression was. A mixture of surprise, shock, confusion and eternal happiness, probably. Was my mind playing tricks on me?
"Anyway", Yoongi continued and I turned back to face him, knees almost too wobbly to stand upright "thanks for that. Jungkook deserves a few friends his own age"
And with one last smile, he left with Seokjin and Hoseok.
