_______
~JIN POV ~
Yoongi was the first to speak "I think it's better if you leave now"
I was in shock. Hayoon didn't seem like the girl to fall for someone as bad as Kim Taehyung and neither did she seem like she was dumb enough to not notice him bullying Jungkook, whom she was friends with. It didn't make sense, but before I could open my mouth, she had already stormed off, her head sunken as low as possible. It truly didn't make sense. To me, she always embodied intelligence, creativity and beauty, not anything as ugly as being close to Taehyung. Dang, Seokjin, stop crushing. Maybe that was also part of the shock for me – she had a boyfriend. Admittedly, I never really talked to her, she mostly kept to herself in art class and I didn't want to disturb her peaceful existence. But somehow, she never seemed love-struck, never once drew something relating to her boyfriend like all the other girls did. In fact, her artwork was unique, every single piece. I loved admiring it just as much as I loved admiring her. But this was not exactly the right time to think about my catastrophically huge crush on Boo Hayoon.
Jungkook started arguing with his step-brother "Hyung, PLEASE, it's not her fault"
"Of course it's her fault, she CHOSE to be the girlfriend of that piece of shit who beat you up!", Yoongi growled, making even me flinch.
"No it isn't!", Kookie started again, gesturing for someone to listen to him, but Yoongi just stood up and left the room.
Hoseok, who had only opened his mouth to sip his sprite, chimed in "You can explain to us, Jungkook-ah"
Hobi seemed unfazed by all of this, probably because he wasn't as invested in getting revenge on Taehyung as Yoongi was. As for me, I of course wanted Jungkook to be safe, but beating his bully up didn't seem like the best plan to be honest. So I mostly tried to keep Yoongi in check whenever we spotted him at school.
"I don't know if Hayoon would be comfortable with me telling other people", the youngest mumbled, having sunken into his seat in defeat.
What the heck was happening to that girl? "If it's that bad, it sounds like she needs help", I pointed out. I shouldn't let my curiosity get the better of me but Jungkook's vague words left no clue as to how serious the situation was.
"Hayoon's not his girlfriend because she wants to. He treats her horribly, cheating all the time and basically never talking to her. And of course she doesn't just accept that Taehyung beat me up", he finally started his explanation. But that couldn't be everything...
"Then she should break up with him, easy as that", Hoseok interrupted, proud of his quick solution.
Jungkook and I exchanged a quick look and he continued "When they started dating... uhm", he blushed and gazed at the ceiling "Hayoonie sent him some pictures and Taehyung threatens to spread them around the school every time she doesn't do as he says"
I gulped. That... bastard. Surprised at my own mental cursing, I looked up to meet Jungkook's eyes, he seemed genuinely sad. My fists clenched at the thought of Hayoon being blackmailed by that jerk.
"We'll help her", Hoseok stated, slamming his glass onto the table. I nodded, all three of us agreeing that this was the only right thing to do. And as for Yoongi, Jungkook would simply have to try and explain it to him once more.
_______
It was Monday morning, I sat at my table in art class fifteen minutes early as usual. This time, however, it wasn't to make an extra good impression on the teacher, I actually had an exam in another class in 20 minutes, but I had a mission to fulfil. Okay, maybe that was a bit exaggerated. Truthfully, I just wanted to speak to Hayoon and tell her that we didn't hate her. And maybe, if I was brave enough, invite her to hang out. While waiting for her arrival, I tapped my pencil onto the desk, a really annoying habit of mine.
Said pencil was immediately dropped. Hayoon had entered the room, her face as cute as always but her hair – it used to be brown and really long but she had cut it shorter, now only barely touching her chest and most importantly: it was blonde. I couldn't take my eyes off her, not sure if she maybe was an actual angel. God, get it together, Seokjin.
"Uhm, hey Hayoon", I managed to get up, her strawberry scent intoxicating me as she turned around. She didn't smile.
"The new hair suits you", I tried some small talk, burrowing my hands in my trousers' pockets. She grinned, a slight blush grazing her cheeks.
"Thanks, Seokjin-sunbaenim", her voice didn't match her happy expression, sadly. Also, I hated how she used honorifics on me. I'd much rather hear her say my nickname, although I doubted she ever would.
"I... uh...", I stuttered, suddenly having forgotten the words I had so carefully prepared. She raised her brows.
"We don't hate you or anything", a sigh of relief following my own words. And Hayoon seemed glad as well, her smile becoming wider.
"Also...", I ruffled my hair, another stupid habit, "would you maybe... like to hang out after school or something?"
Hayoon's eyes doubled in size. Bad move, Seokjin. I should've just –
"I'd love to", she squealed, before biting her lip as if she remembered something "but I have to work at my parents' restaurant almost every day"
I smiled "I'm sure they wouldn't mind a few more guests?"
Her cute little giggle made my heart skip a beat.
"That sounds nice, Seokjin", she replied. Finally, she dropped the stupid suffix.
"See you after school then, Hayoon", I waved at her, leaving the classroom to sprint to the exam hall.
