________
The past few days had been torture. My newfound will to fight back was completely gone, Taehyung was in control of the situation again. I lived with it, as I always did, but the small bit of hope I had previously had had vanished now. Maybe I should've never gone to the graveyard.
"This is making even me depressed", Hoseok peeked over my shoulder, inspecting the canvas in front of me. I shrugged, adding some more shadows to the chain on the woman's hands. My art had never been that subtle.
"The more I watch this shitshow, the more I get Yoongi's desire to beat that douche up", he added, shaking his head. I chuckled, although it only depressed me more. As if there was any way to stop Taehyung.
I gulped "Thanks, Hoseok. At least I have amazing friends", the last part was more of a self-assurance than it was an answer. The red-haired boy smiled, patting my arm before returning to his own artwork.
The fact that not even art class managed to cheer me up was shocking, even for me. And neither did my friends' sweet gestures – Jimin had cooked my favourite meals, Seokjin walked me home every day, Jungkook had done my maths homework after every class (although I never asked for it) and even Yoongi was unusually friendly towards me. But when I had felt happy for a moment, there'd be a new setback: Taehyung dragging me away during lunch, a bouquet of flowers on my desk 'for my babe' and of course my classmates' whispers "I heard she ignored Taehyung's mother's death day... what a bitch"
It hurt, although I tried to make myself believe that I didn't bother me. Sometimes I couldn't breathe right anymore, Taehyung's psychological terror was starting to show physical symptoms. I just wanted to get out of this.
"Hayoonie, I managed to grab two chocolate puddings for you!", Jungkook practically ran to our table, slamming his bounty onto my tray. His proud expression managed to get a smile out of me. I quickly thanked him, before playing with my food again. How was it midday already?
"You've really gotten too thin", Chanyeol mustered my sunken cheeks. Not that we ever exchanged many words or anything. He slid a chocolate bar in front of me "please eat some more"
When even your acquaintances start worrying about you, there must be something really wrong. I sighed, leaning my head onto Seokjin's shoulder. Having skin ship with him didn't freak me out anymore. It felt comfortable and safe, a rare emotion for me at the moment. And he still smelt amazing.
"Wow, I wonder how her boyfriend feels about that", the quiet whisper behind me made me listen up. The voice belonged to some underclass-girl, she snickered after her comment. My eyes wandered to the side, catching a glimpse of her as she passed our table with a condescending look. Next to her walked a slightly shorter girl who hastily caught up with her friend before adding "She's such a slut", both of them bursting into laughter.
It stung, but before I could react in any way, Jimin had already jumped up from his seat, ignoring Yoongi's grip to hold him back.
"And what about you two bitches? You are, what, 14? Just because you're into some guy who's never gonna acknowledge your existence doesn't mean you pitiful hoes have the right to open your ugly mouths", he growled, spitting the insults into their faces.
The cafeteria went silent. I had never seen Jimin like that, his eyes sparked with hate. Namjoon had gotten up, trying to pull my best friend back. But it was too late, one of the girls already cried and a teacher had reached the scene.
"D-Don't punish him. I made him do it, it's my fault", I stumbled over my words, slowly standing up from the table. This was not Jimin's fight.
The teacher turned to me, mustering my trembling body. He shrugged his shoulders "Then follow me to the office, both of you"
Jimin's and my eyes locked as we made our way out of the cafeteria, everybody staring at us. "I promised it, remember?", he whispered with a tiny smile, squeezing my hand.
